Hi Monica, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a board certified Family Medicine physician and am the owner of Orange Blossom Medical- a boutique direct primary care practice in South Miami. I attended the University of Miami for my undergraduate studies and then the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine for medical school. I completed my residency training at Chestnut Hill Hospital in Philadelphia. I worked with a large hospital system for over 5 years here in Miami and knew that it was time to take a leap of faith and start my own direct primary care practice. Starting Orange Blossom Medical would allow me to give the time and attention my patients need and deserve while still being able to be a present mom to my 2 little girls. At Orange Blossom Medical, my patients pay me directly rather than through their insurance. They are able to choose between an affordable monthly membership plan or pay per visit. While my patients pay me directly, they can still use their insurance for blood work, medications, imaging studies. At Orange Blossom Medical you experience whole person centered care with a traditional MD who focuses on lifestyle changes. I am so happy that my patients have greater accessibility to me as their doctor- they are given my cell phone and can reach out via text, phone call, email or portal messaging. Greater accessibility, minimal wait times, un-rushed personalized care are all central components to my practice. I treat my patients as family.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was scary doing something like this out of the box- there are less and less private practices these days. Direct Primary Care is still not fully known in Miami, however it has been growing in recent years! I am still not making the same salary as when I was previously employed, but owning my own practice and being in charge of my schedule has been life changing for my family and me. My practice has been slowly but surely growing in an organic way.

Direct Primary Care is an innovative model of medicine which is growing all over the country.
In a direct primary care practice, patients pay the physician directly instead of through their insurance. It is similar to concierge medicine but different in that many concierge practices still bill insurance in addition to billing the patient.
I am a board certified family physician. I focus on lifestyle changes and treat my patients as family.
I offer a monthly membership plan or the patient can pay per visit.
Visits are never rushed, start on time, and we focus on the patient’s physical, mental, and spiritual health.
I am all about prevention and offer a variety of preventative screening services in addition to weight loss medication management, ADHD medication management and MLS laser therapy for chronic pain and inflammation.
