Inspiring Conversations with Michele Singer of Tasteful Thoughts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michele Singer

Hi Michele, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I worked in TV for 30 years and started making chocolate as a hobby to give as gifts. I decided after 30 years, to do something new and left NBC and tested out the waters to open our own store. In March 2018, we opened Tasteful Thoughts, a Kosher Certified handmade chocolate store. Three years ago, we purchased Popcorn Zone from a friend who owned it. We now sell chocolate and popcorn and have a dairy and a parve room. You can walk into our store and order one piece of chocolate or a few pounds. We also sell platters, trays, baskets, and can do edible logos for dairy and parve chocolates. Whether you want a gift for your family, neighbors, small business, or corporate clients/employees, Tasteful Thoughts is the one to go to. We love to customize your baskets and trays to reflect you and your business.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Opening a business is never a smooth road, you learn as you go. After the first two years in business, we learned how we needed to change, the direction we wanted to go in and looked forward to making the changes after Valentines Day 2020. A month later was the pandemic and we had to rethink our business again. Being a new business during Covid was a challenge, but we survived with no PPP. Not having a business background or knowing anything about owning a store was also a challenge. Some things were not done the way it should have been, but we learned fast. Learning what the customers want and like is another challenge. Another challenge is making the majority of chocolate in house due to the time it takes to dip in the chocolate. I don’t regret opening the store or going down this path, but love to pass down what I have learned to try and help others.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Tasteful Thoughts?

We also sell seasoned pretzels, sugar cinnamon cashews, cotton candy, cake pops, brownies, candy and caramel apples, and so much more. What sets us apart is our attention to detail and our customer service. We want to make sure you are happy and love to customize your order. From the chocolate we put in to the ribbon we use, everything is made with care and attention to detail.

What makes you happy?
Seeing someone enjoy the chocolate we made or seeing the smile on their face when we deliver a basket is worth every second.
