Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Palmer-Williams.
Hi Melissa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Three years ago, my husband and I decided to turn our shared passion for celebrating life’s milestones into a family-owned event rentals and planning business. What started with a few rentals has blossomed into a company known for creativity, personal service, and a true family touch.
From the very beginning, my husband’s excellent craftsmanship has been a cornerstone of our growth. He hand-builds marquee letters, numbers, and other custom pieces that give our clients’ events a one-of-a-kind feel. These handmade items have become some of our most sought-after rentals, adding personality and warmth to everything from weddings to birthdays.
Word of mouth from family, friends, and early clients spread quickly, and soon we found ourselves booking events that ranged from small intimate gatherings to larger celebrations. Each step of the way, we’ve invested in expanding our inventory, refining our services, and building lasting relationships with our clients.
This is truly a family effort. Our kids also play an active role — from assisting with event design, planning, and décor, to helping with day-of wedding coordination and setup. Together, we bring different strengths to the table, whether it’s creative design, logistical planning, or building unique rentals that can’t be found anywhere else.
Today, we’re proud to serve our community with everything from full event planning and wedding coordination to memorable rental pieces that elevate every celebration. For us, this business isn’t just about events — it’s about creating meaningful experiences and memories for families, just as we’ve created them together in building this dream.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like most small businesses, our journey hasn’t been without its challenges. We had to learn as we built the business, which meant some lessons came the hard way — and a few were costly. From figuring out the right inventory to balancing logistics and client expectations, every step taught us something new about what it really takes to run and grow a family business.
The event industry is also closely tied to the economy and people’s comfort level with gatherings. Economic disruptions and shifts in society can greatly affect event planning, since celebrations are often the first things families and organizations cut back on during uncertain times. Those periods tested our resilience, but they also pushed us to be more resourceful, creative, and intentional in how we serve our clients.
In the end, those bumps in the road have shaped us into a stronger, more adaptable business — and have reinforced our belief that creating meaningful celebrations is always worth the effort.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a family-owned and operated event rentals and planning company, specializing in creating memorable celebrations of all sizes. Our services include event design, wedding planning, day-of wedding coordination, and a wide selection of rental items — from tables and chairs to eye-catching décor.
What sets us apart is the personal, family touch behind everything we do. My husband’s craftsmanship allows us to offer handmade marquee letters, numbers, and custom rental pieces that can’t be found anywhere else. Our kids are also part of the team, contributing to event design and helping with planning and coordination. This makes our business truly unique — every event we do is a reflection of our family’s creativity and teamwork.
We’re most proud of building a brand that clients trust to deliver both beauty and reliability. Whether it’s a wedding, birthday, or community celebration, we approach each event as if it were our own — with care, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for creating experiences that people will remember for years.
Above all, we want people to know that when they work with us, they’re not just hiring a vendor — they’re partnering with a family that’s dedicated to bringing their vision to life.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
As a family-owned business, we’re always looking for ways to keep learning and improving — both in how we serve our clients and how we grow personally. A few resources that have been especially helpful include:
Event Inspiration Platforms: Pinterest and Instagram are constant sources of creative ideas for event design, décor, and trending styles that clients love.
Business & Productivity Tools: Apps like Canva for design, Trello/Asana for organization, and QuickBooks for managing finances help keep our business running smoothly.
Podcasts & Learning: We enjoy listening to podcasts like How I Built This and The Goal Digger Podcast, which share stories of entrepreneurs building businesses from the ground up — they remind us we’re not alone on this journey.
Books: Titles like The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber have helped us think about how to grow our business strategically, while Atomic Habits by James Clear has inspired us personally to stay consistent and intentional in daily life.
At the end of the day, though, one of our greatest resources is our own community — listening to client feedback, learning from other small business owners, and supporting one another as a family team. That’s what really helps us do our best, in work and in life.
