Today we’d like to introduce you to Marina Galdino.
Marina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Before I became an entrepreneur, I worked as a Lawyer and Parliamentary Advisor in Manaus, the capital of Amazon, where I was born and raised in Brazil. After achieving some of the career goals I had set for myself in Brazil at the age of 27, I felt I needed bigger challenges and the world beckoned me. So I decide to come alone to North America to study English and broaden my business network.
After 4 months, I was able to become fluent in English and then I enrolled in a Business Administration Course in Vancouver BC, that same year. There I had to opportunity to work initially as Administrative Assistant in a few businesses, which allowed me to network with a diverse group of business people.
My interpersonal skills allowed me to build great relationships and learn from their experiences, leading me to where I am now. Last year, at the age of 31, I became a Partner and International Business Associate at a Company called Gusko Advisory Services, and also part of the Advisory Board at a Clean Technology Company, both based in Canada.
In both companies, my role is to facilitate international transactions and negotiations between Brazil and North America. Because of that, I travel frequently between, the US (Miami), Canada, Germany, and Brazil. I also share a bit of my lifestyle on social media, such as Instagram, Facebook, and Youtube.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road at all. Being an immigrant alone is already a huge challenge. When you move to another country having no family or friends, all the sudden changes and the impact of a whole new culture and place can feel a bit overwhelming and a lot of times lonely.
But like others say, “When you have a vision or dreams, the vision pulls you.” I have always dreamed about a career abroad, and I found the right combination of challenges, freedom, and creativity, in entrepreneurship.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our foundation is Capital Markets. We have taken almost 10 Companies Public and are able to tap into our network to connect investors and strategic partners, to provide capital markets advisory services for meaningful projects in the fields of Technology, Mining, and Carbon Offsets in North America, Germany, and Brazil.
My role as Partner and International Business Associate is to use my background as a Lawyer combined with my Business training/knowledge to facilitate transactions between North America and Brazil.
What set us apart from others is that we are a Multi-lingual and multicultural firm with access to capital markets, investment banks, natural resources, and Carbon Credit projects in three continents, North America, South America, and Europe. And I am most proud of our reputation and our ability to maintain a high level of multicultural business relationships, with many of our business relationships becoming personal friends.
