Today we’d like to introduce you to Lyen Wong.
Hi Lyen, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I feel like a reflection of Miami — vibrant, diverse, and shaped by many cultures. I was born into a rich blend of Afro-Cuban, Chinese, and Spanish/Basque heritage, and from the very beginning, movement, expression, and purpose were my first language.
My inspiration is forever my father. He was born a minority, and he never let difficult circumstances define him. He hustled with his heart and was a kind leader who stayed strong and active until his final days. His magnetic energy, discipline, and love for life left an imprint on me that runs deeper than words. Through him, I learned that real vitality isn’t just physical — it’s rooted in spirit.
Growing up, dance, sports, and martial arts were my way of life. I became a certified personal trainer in 2003, and two years later, I stepped onto a stage for my first fitness competition. That moment lit a fire that took me across Europe and the U.S., earning me international titles and a spot among top fitness and figure athletes. But what shaped me the most was discipline, sacrifice, and the deep belief that growth isn’t just about strength, it is about purpose. During that time, I also started to build my brand based on a real-life approach that leads to real-life results: “Lyen Wong – Fitness”.
As I moved through countries and cultures, I carried stories and a growing vision that fitness is a universal language. Whether training celebrities, diplomats, new mothers, or everyday people, one thing was always true: everyone wants to feel seen, supported, and comfortable in their bodies. This vision, combined with my experience as a trainer and competitor, inspired me to consolidate all I’d learned. In 2011, it came full circle when I opened my private personal training studio in Miami: “Peak Physique and Performance”. My mission was clear: to help women and men over 40 build lasting strength, longevity, and alignment while focusing on physical and emotional vitality.
Then something beautiful happened. As more of my clients began their motherhood journeys, they came to me with new questions: “Can I keep training safely?” “How do I reconnect with my body after birth?” I realized this wasn’t just about modifying workouts — it was a deeper calling to expand my work. In 2017, I became a certified Pre/Postnatal Training and Postpartum Recovery Specialist and introduced “Fit Pregnant and Beyond” — a program designed to support women through pregnancy and after childbirth. I implement workouts backed by science, shaped by empathy, and powered by trust. Today, “Fit Pregnant and Beyond” stands as a dedicated space within my business, created to remind women that pregnancy isn’t a pause — it’s a powerful new phase.
My story is still evolving, and I’m hopeful about the future — lifted and grounded by my father’s final words: “Never lose your faith. Always believe.”
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth road?! Raise your hand if you’ve actually had one. 😉
We must embrace that the journey of life won’t always be smooth. And wow, did I have to embrace it.
Losing my father — my greatest inspiration — and ending my 16-year marriage were two of the biggest turning points in my life. My divorce also led to the closing of my personal training studio — another deep loss after pouring my heart into it for 10 years.
Still, I pulled through. Starting over—personally and professionally—redefined what strength meant to me. I’ve learned it doesn’t always look like lifting weights. Sometimes it means embracing hardship, finding the courage to begin again, and staying open through uncertainty. It’s a shift that’s brought more care, empathy, and purpose into my work.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am the founder of “Lyen Wong – Fitness”, specializing in Corrective Exercise, Post-Orthopedic Rehabilitation, and Strength and Functional Training. I focus on assessing and correcting musculoskeletal imbalances that contribute to movement dysfunction and chronic pain. My programs combine mobility work, strength training, and corrective exercises to help individuals over 40 train effectively, move better, feel stronger, reduce pain and injuries, and stay active, allowing them to keep doing what they love. It’s about creating real lasting changes that help them feel confident, capable, and happy in their bodies again.
I am also the founder of “Fit Pregnant and Beyond,” a safe and personalized program that supports women through every stage of motherhood and helps break through common pregnancy myths. From core and pelvic floor recovery to birth preparation and functional strength training, I help women move with purpose, rebuild strength, and step into each new chapter with energy, confidence, and a renewed sense of self.
Whether in person or virtually, I meet my clients where they are. My programs and exercises are simple, yet deeply effective. In addition to that, personal approach is the key. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all fitness—every body and lifestyle is different. I take the time to listen and understand where people are, what they need, and what fits into their real lives. My motto is: “Real life, real bodies, real solutions.”
The most meaningful part of building my brand has been giving people hope. It’s not just about workouts. I help them reconnect with who they are, in their bodies, or in a new chapter of life. It’s bigger than fitness—it’s about belonging, rebuilding, and believing in what’s possible.
This holistic, client-centered approach has allowed me to build a trusted network of professionals—including OBGYNs, orthopedic doctors, and physical and massage therapists. This ensures clients receive care that goes far beyond fitness. Together, we offer coordinated personalized support that leads to positive outcomes and sustainable change.
How do you define success?
Success means something deeper to me now. It isn’t a destination—it’s how we show up in the world every day: with heart, with purpose, and with the willingness to uplift others, even in small ways.
To me, success comes in many forms—helping a new mom reconnect with her strength, guiding someone through recovery, or simply holding space for a person who needs to feel seen. Those moments remind me that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
My story is still being written, but if it inspires even one person to rise, to start over, or to care just a little more—then I have succeeded.
In the end, this work is about transformation. How strong can we become? Not just in our bodies, but in our spirit. How much good can we do and how much light can we share?
