Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorena Whigham.
Hi Lorena, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I often say that one of the greatest privileges of my life was being born and raised in Brazil. While my beginnings were humble, they gave me something far more valuable than comfort: resilience, gratitude, faith, and the courage to dream beyond my circumstances.
Growing up, I faced losses that shaped me deeply. At a young age, I lost my mother, and later I experienced the loss of my sister and my father. Those chapters of my life brought grief, uncertainty, and questions that no child is ever fully prepared to answer. Yet, through those experiences, I learned how to be brave in my own way. I learned that even when life changes unexpectedly, we still have the power to choose hope, keep moving forward, and continue believing in our dreams.
One of the memories that has stayed with me throughout my life is a conversation with my grandmother. Looking into my eyes, she told me, “You will face many obstacles in your life, but always follow your heart.” At the time, I didn’t fully understand the depth of those words, but they became one of the guiding principles of my journey. Following my heart led me to pursue education, personal growth, new opportunities, and eventually a new life in another country. Whenever I faced difficult decisions, I returned to that inner compass and trusted the voice within me to guide the way forward.
Education became one of my pathways forward. I was the first person in my family to earn a college degree, graduating in Education and later pursuing multiple postgraduate studies and certifications in human development, coaching, and personal transformation. I became passionate about understanding people, helping others overcome limitations, and continually reinventing myself.
Like many dreamers, I knew there was a bigger world waiting for me. In 2016, I moved to the United States with little more than determination, hope, and a vision for the future. Starting over in a new country brought its own challenges. I had to adapt to a different culture, improve my English, build a new network, and create opportunities from the ground up. There were moments of uncertainty, but I never stopped believing that my life could become greater than my circumstances.
As a little girl growing up in Brazil, I was always a dreamer. I dreamed big, even when my reality seemed small. One of those dreams was becoming a Samba Queen, inspired by the beauty, culture, and magic of Carnival. Years later, after moving to the United States, that childhood dream became a reality when I was crowned Samba Queen in Florida. It was one of the first moments in my life that showed me something powerful: our dreams do not have expiration dates, and where we begin does not determine what is possible for us.
Along the way, I found love, built a new life, and continued investing in my personal and professional growth. I became a certified Master Life Coach, an author, entrepreneur, content creator, and founder of Palm Beach Socialite, a luxury media platform that connects socialites, philanthropists, entrepreneurs, and brands in Palm Beach and beyond.
Today, I share my passions for lifestyle, travel, personal development, philanthropy, and meaningful connections through social media, events, and my work. One of my proudest accomplishments has been publishing my book, I Am the Queen of My World, a project inspired by my own journey of transformation and the belief that every person has the power to create a life beyond what they once thought possible.
When I look back, I don’t see a story defined by obstacles. I see a story of faith, reinvention, and persistence. From a young girl in Brazil with big dreams to building a life and brand in the United States, my journey has taught me that where you start does not determine where you can go. Sometimes the most extraordinary chapters begin with the most humble beginnings.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. Looking back, I don’t think my journey has ever been what most people would call a smooth road. But I believe that every challenge, every loss, and every obstacle became part of the foundation that shaped the woman I am today.
I grew up in Brazil in a family with very limited financial resources. We never owned a car, my parents never owned a home, and we lived a simple life. By many standards, we were poor. Yet I never truly felt poor.
What I remember most is the abundance of love that surrounded me. Our table was filled with simple but creative meals, laughter echoed through our home, and there was always room for family, friends, celebrations, and dreams. My parents gave us something far more valuable than material wealth: strong values, compassion, faith, resilience, and the belief that education could change our future.
As a child, I was always a dreamer. I loved reading magazines and imagining a life beyond what I could see around me. I was curious, ambitious, creative, and determined. Deep inside, I believed that one day I would create an extraordinary life, even if I had no idea how I would get there.
Then life changed forever.
When I was fifteen years old, my mother passed away. Losing her was one of the most painful experiences of my life. For a long time, I could barely hear the word “mom” without feeling a deep ache in my heart. I struggled to understand why someone I loved so much could be taken away so soon. I felt lost, confused, and heartbroken.
Just one year later, I lost one of my sister as well.
Those losses shattered the world I knew. They forced me to ask questions that many people don’t begin asking until much later in life. Why are we here? What happens after death? Why do some people leave so soon? How do we heal from pain that feels impossible to carry?
My search for those answers became a defining chapter of my life.
I immersed myself in personal development, psychology, neuroscience, spirituality, meditation, and the study of the mind. I became fascinated by understanding human behavior, emotional healing, the power of our thoughts, and the possibility that we can consciously create a different future regardless of our past. What began as a desperate search for healing eventually became a lifelong passion and part of my life’s work.
I won’t pretend I handled everything perfectly. I was young, hurting, and trying to make sense of a world that suddenly felt uncertain. Like many young people navigating grief, I made mistakes and went through rebellious phases while trying to find myself. But even during those difficult years, there was a small voice inside me that refused to give up.
Years later, I also lost my father to depression and alcoholism. Once again, I found myself facing grief. Yet by then, I had already begun building the inner tools that would help me transform pain into purpose.
Through healing, self-discovery, education, meditation, and personal growth, I slowly learned that while we cannot always control what happens to us, we can choose who we become because of it. Instead of allowing trauma to define my future, I became committed to creating a new reality for myself.
That commitment led me to pursue higher education, earn multiple degrees and certifications, become a Master Life Coach, move to the United States, learn a new language, build a new life from scratch, and eventually create Palm Beach Socialite, a luxury media platform connecting socialites, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and brands.
Today, when people see the events I host, the content I create, the book I published, or the life I have built, they often see the highlights. What they don’t always see are the years of healing, self-discovery, loss, perseverance, and reinvention behind those achievements.
I still miss my mother, my sister, and my father. I always will. But their lives, their love, and the lessons they left behind continue to inspire me every day. In many ways, my greatest challenges became my greatest teachers. They taught me that resilience is not about avoiding pain. It’s about finding meaning through it, choosing hope anyway, and continuing to move forward with an open heart.
If my story proves anything, it’s that our beginnings do not determine our destiny. Sometimes the most difficult chapters of our lives become the very chapters that prepare us for the life we are meant to create.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At its core, my work is about transformation, connection, purpose, and creating a meaningful life.
Through my personal brand, I combine my background as a psychotherapist, Master Life Coach, author, content creator, entrepreneur, socialite, and philanthropist to inspire others to believe that their circumstances do not define their future. My own journey, from humble beginnings in Brazil to building a life and business in the United States, has shaped much of what I teach and share today.
One of my greatest passions is personal transformation. After experiencing significant loss at a young age, I became deeply interested in understanding the human mind, emotional healing, personal growth, neuroscience, meditation, and the power of creating a new reality regardless of where we begin. These experiences ultimately inspired my book, I Am the Queen of My World, where I share unconventional yet practical ways to level up every area of life from the inside out. Through mindset shifts, affirmations, self-awareness, intentional action, and personal responsibility, I encourage readers to step into their power and become the authors of their own story.
Another important part of my work is philanthropy. As a socialite and advocate for charitable causes, I frequently attend luncheons, galas, fundraisers, and community events throughout Palm Beach and beyond. I believe true success is not only about personal achievement but also about contribution, generosity, and creating a positive impact in the lives of others.
This philosophy is also the foundation of Palm Beach Socialite, the luxury media platform I founded. Palm Beach Socialite is much more than a media outlet. It is a platform dedicated to highlighting the people, stories, businesses, philanthropic initiatives, and community leaders who are helping shape Palm Beach County and beyond.
Through editorial features, interviews, social media, events, partnerships, and our growing community, we showcase socialites, philanthropists, entrepreneurs, authors, creatives, and brands that are making a meaningful difference. We love telling inspiring stories, connecting remarkable people, supporting worthy causes, and creating opportunities for collaboration and growth.
What makes Palm Beach Socialite unique is the combination of luxury lifestyle, philanthropy, entrepreneurship, personal development, and community. While we celebrate beautiful experiences, elegant events, and inspiring individuals, our deeper mission is to create meaningful connections and highlight people who are contributing to something greater than themselves.
Whether through my personal brand, my book, Palm Beach Socialite, speaking engagements, content creation, events, or community initiatives, my goal remains the same: to inspire people to dream bigger, become the best version of themselves, build meaningful relationships, and create a life filled with purpose, impact, and possibility.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
Absolutely. While I have always been driven by a strong desire to grow and become the best version of myself, I don’t believe anyone achieves success entirely alone.
From a young age, I felt a natural calling to inspire, teach, and help others. Before becoming an entrepreneur, author, and content creator, I was a teacher in Brazil. Even then, I loved encouraging people to believe in themselves and discover their own potential. In many ways, that passion continues to guide everything I do today.
Throughout my journey, I have been fortunate to learn from some incredible mentors, authors, educators, and thought leaders whose work profoundly influenced my life. Personal development pioneers such as Bob Proctor, Louise Hay, and Joe Dispenza introduced me to powerful concepts surrounding mindset, personal transformation, meditation, neuroscience, and the connection between our thoughts and the lives we create. Their teachings challenged me to think bigger, heal deeper, and take greater responsibility for my own growth.
Beyond well-known mentors, I am grateful for every person who has crossed my path and helped shape my journey. Some offered guidance, some offered encouragement, and others simply believed in me during seasons when I was still learning to believe fully in myself.
My family has also played an important role. The values they instilled in me, especially resilience, compassion, faith, and perseverance, continue to guide me every day. I am especially grateful for my husband, whose support, encouragement, and belief in my dreams have helped me navigate many chapters of personal and professional growth.
I am equally thankful for my clients, readers, followers, event attendees, and the many people who have supported my work over the years. Every message, conversation, collaboration, and shared story reminds me why I do what I do.
More than anything, I believe that success is rarely the result of one person. It is often the result of many people contributing wisdom, encouragement, opportunities, and belief along the way. I am deeply grateful to everyone who has helped me grow, challenged me to think differently, and inspired me to continue evolving.
If there is one lesson I have learned, it is that growth becomes much more meaningful when we use it not only to improve our own lives, but also to inspire and uplift others.
