Today we’d like to introduce you to Larisa Mathur.
Hi Larisa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
First of all thank you for the opportunity, I am very thankful to be featured in the local magazine. A few years ago, I was a stay at home mom with two kids, and so I did a lot of forex trading to make income. As it grew, I went down the path of incorporating and networking, and the more time I spent in the world of banking and hedge funds, the more I realized that my heart just wasn’t in it. Making the rich richer was not a strong motivator for me. So I went back to the drawing board and started thinking how I can impact the life of the little guy, and that’s how Iris Market IQ (IMIQ) was born.
I am an immigrant and have been fortunate enough to build a financially stable life, and I wanted to share the know-how with a wider audience. I started IMIQ in Q4 of 2021, and it’s been an incredible journey!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My struggles have mostly been related to the fact I came from Serbia. As an immigrant, I could only do as much as my visa status has permitted, so getting to the point of starting IMIQ was a long time coming. However, the day is finally here, and each step of the way, I encounter different challenges, but they make for an amazing journey of discovery and growth. Currently, IMIQ needs exposure more than anything else. So hey, if you are reading this article, come visit us, and tell your friends!
As all other startups, we struggle with marketing spend, we can’t grow as quickly as we’d like. No complaints though, overall we have come a long way in the first six months of operations, the future looks bright.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Iris Market IQ is a market research company that administers surveys to people to collect trend data about spending, saving and investing habits in the US. We reward our survey takers with small gift cards for completion of surveys, and every week we have a giveaway for the one person who collected most reward points (submitted most surveys). We are only starting, and our giveaways are $50 each week, but as we grow we will expand the giveaways to better and more rewards. Come register and give us a chance! All participation is free, we never collect your credit card or physical address, we only require an email address which is used for you to receive your giveaway. All answers are anonymous, we only look at trend data.
Our brand is all about integrity, privacy and rewards. IMIQ supports local spending and local businesses, a part of our proceeds goes back into the community, supporting local events.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Be helpful! We strive to contribute to the life of each of our users in any way possible, by virtue of education, connecting them to the right vendors for their financial needs or rewarding their time with gift cards. IMIQ prides itself in bringing a smile to the face of our users in any way we can. If we can manage to make one person a little bit happier and their life a little bit easier at least on occasion, we have accomplished our goals.
For me personally, it’s perseverance. Sticking to a path when things get rough is a true test of character and strength, and I have definitely had moments of doubt, fear and weakness. Learning to overcome self-doubt, and the ever-present imposter syndrome for women in business has been a long road. Waking up each day and deciding not to think but to do takes courage. But after some time, you look back and you realize you have done something, and that little seed of success keeps me going. And of course, a happy customer, and the happiness I strive to put out into the world.
