Hi Kala, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hello. My name is Kala Jordan-Lindsey, and I’m a woman of God, wife of the most amazing, loving, supportive husband, and mother of a beautiful daughter. On a professional level, I’m a passionate author and poet of eight successful inspirational books and counting. Please visit https://www.
I hold a Master of Music in music performance from Florida International University in Miami and a Bachelor of Music in music performance from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. For over a decade, I performed music on the clarinet and taught music education in grade school, junior high, high school, and college. However, in November 2017, I experienced a turning point. I was fired from my job. My second full-time music teaching position was unexpectedly terminated, and everything changed; my lifestyle, work, and financial status changed, resulting in many things happening thereafter. I became jobless, depressed, and confused about my future. But only for a short time.
In February 2018, I awakened from a restless night, picked up my mobile phone, and began writing, releasing my thoughts and feelings as tears ran down my eyes. It wasn’t easy, but it was one of the most amazing feelings ever. From start to finish, it was therapeutic and satisfying that I fell in love with such an experience. At this point, I was sure I discovered my greatest calling without a doubt.
So, that April, I was inspired by my story and hosted my first public event at Pompey Park in Delray Beach, Florida, which blessed me with the opportunity to share my story through spoken word. Expressing my heart before a caring and supportive audience was satisfying, so I continued to write and self-published my first book, “Run Your Business in Ten Essentials for 365 Days and Beyond,” soon after. Years later, I self-published my first successful, five-star collection of poetry, prose, and inspirational quotes, “Words from the Heart” 1st Edition, in 2021.
Then, I created Visible Voice Oh Yes LLC. However, years later, I changed it to KJL while working for others. I worked during the day, wrote at night, and continued to write and self-publish inspirational books like “When You Rise” and “The Most Powerful Quotes to Enhance Your Life,” which you can purchase at https://www.kalajordanlindsey.

Fast-forward to this March, I finally self-published my seventh book, “The Turning Point: Memoirs of Determination, Hope, Faith, Loss, Love, and Resilience,” which took me five-plus years to write and publish. I was determined to turn my hidden words, the other chapters of my life, into another book to offer comfort, understanding, and encouragement to those in an unexpected, rough, or difficult season of life. So, days after it was published, I was motivated not to let my first copies remain in boxes or on my desk. Instead, I was inspired to visit a local business in my neighborhood that was a great location to set up a booth with my book collection and whatever else I had in my possession. This uncommon opportunity would open another door and allow me to share my book business and collection with the public.
After I spoke with Luis Salinas, Herbalife Representative at the Northway Wellness Center in Miami, Florida, he showed compassion and said, “Yes.” He welcomed me into the Center with open arms to set up a booth to display and operate my business to the public. This moment was one of the best evenings of my life. I was grateful and overwhelmed with excitement and humility, but most of all, I was thankful for God’s grace, mercy, and favor.
Since March 9, 2024, my books and bookmarks have been available to the public at the Center. I have no set hours. However, when I am available, I am present. I have been blessed to connect with fantastic book lovers, entrepreneurs, educators, college students, Herbalife clients, and many others in my community and from all over. Every day is more than a dream come true; it is a privilege and blessing to walk in my calling and experience satisfaction, joy, and peace. God blessed me to be free to do what I love while touching lives, writing, self-publishing, and helping others on their writing journey, which is what I have longed to do since the day I came into this world. I’m living my best life, and it feels better than good; my direction makes sense, to God be the Glory.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road, but it has been worth every obstacle and win. As an independent author and entrepreneur, two of my biggest challenges have been finding ways to expose my creative works, book business, and obtain funding for publishing.
When I struggled or faced unexpected storms, God’s grace always rescued me and revealed ways to be resilient and overcome every situation by trusting in His will and mighty power.
I’ve had to make a lot of sacrifices: write and publish more books, invest, arrange book signings, participate in vendor opportunities, and advertise my books and bookmarks on social media, my website, and in person to pay bills, provide food on the table, invest, and live comfortably.
My role consists of writing, publishing, hiring editors and designers, and investing in myself, which hasn’t been a piece of cake. My duties require a lot of patience, time, passion, and focus to accomplish goals. I strive and thrive daily as I spend countless hours, days, and nights brainstorming new book titles, writing, editing, and creating promotional videos to help expose and grow my business and brand. Everyday is a new and blessed day I look forward to experiencing, exploring, and discovering.
I am forever grateful and humbled God inspired me to create an opportunity that would allow me to display and sell my books to the public, those near and far. My vision became a reality, and so can yours! This opportunity continues to give me exposure, connect me with new clients, and allow me to earn income from physical book sales. I am humbled, happy, and grateful for God’s best “yes.” I am a living witness that the power, grace, and favor of our Heavenly Father is real, so wherever you are on your journey, never give up.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
As a self-published author and poet, and consultant, I write and self-publish non-fiction, fiction, self-help, children’s books, romance, and more! And assist aspiring writers in answering their book publishing and book writing questions.
What sets me apart from others is that I am passionate about what I do and love every day. I produce high-quality, professional, life-changing, inspirational books and create from the heart. I write my books without a ghostwriter and have full control over the creative process, publishing, pricing, and everything beyond getting each one in the hands of my readers.
I am also grateful and pleased that I made one of the most difficult yet best decisions of my life—having faith in God’s direction of my next steps after one of the most challenging life events.
I am most proud that KJL is making a difference in the world, in my community, virtually, and around the globe. I am becoming my best self and thriving boldly one day at a time by the grace, power, love, and strength of my Heavenly Father.
