Juan Carlos “JC” Olivares, originally from Caracas, Venezuela, embarked on a journey to Miami in 1995 with the goal of pursuing his passion for soccer. He aspired to play at a high school level, earn a soccer scholarship, and ultimately represent his national Venezuelan team once again. However, due to a lack of discipline, this dream slowly faded away. Over the years, he took on various jobs, from being a cashier at Pollo Tropical to making and delivering pizzas. He even worked as a pool cleaner. However, it was during his time at a rent-to-own store that he learned the art of salesmanship. A wise Cuban manager once told JC, “If you can sell, you’ll never be out of a job in this country.” These words resonated deeply with him. It was then that JC entered the mortgage industry and later transitioned to the world of technology and digital marketing.
In 2012, he witnessed the transformative power of digital visibility while working for a digitalized version of the old Yellow Pages. My journey has been an incredible one, but it certainly hasn’t been a smooth road. When I first arrived in Miami from Caracas, Venezuela at the age of 16, I faced a whole new set of challenges. Adapting to a new country, a new language, and a new culture was no easy feat. I missed my family and friends back home, and it was tough being away from them.
But I quickly realized that these challenges were opportunities for growth. I embraced the chance to immerse myself in a new environment, to learn a new language, and to understand a different culture. It wasn’t always easy, but it shaped me into the resilient and adaptable person I am today.
Starting my career in the digital marketing industry came with its own set of challenges. The ever-evolving nature of the field meant that I had to constantly stay updated with the latest trends and technologies. It required continuous learning, attending conferences, and staying ahead of the curve.
Building my own digital marketing agency also had its fair share of obstacles. Establishing trust with clients, proving my expertise in a competitive market, and delivering consistent results were all challenges that I had to overcome. But with passion, determination, and a commitment to excellence, I was able to build a successful business and forge strong relationships with my clients.
While facing these challenges, I always maintained a positive and proactive mindset. I viewed each obstacle as an opportunity for growth and learning.
