Today we’d like to introduce you to Jorge Vigas.
Hi Jorge, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and spent most of my childhood barefoot on the beach, fishing, surfing, and creating (which I still do today). I’m also a proud father of two kids who share my love for art and the ocean, though they might love soccer, dance and driving me crazy a bit more.
Growing up by the sea in La Guaira, Venezuela, witnessed the resilience of seagrapes, thriving in salty environments and yielding the most exquisite fruits. A blend of sweet, bitter, and salty, they harness their resources to craft pure awesomeness. This was the inspiration for my studio’s name Salty Sea Grapes. I believe that resilience is my greatest strength.
Professionally, I’ve spent over 20 years as a Creative Director, Art Director, Motion Designer, and VFX Artist, shaping stories for screens big and small. My career has taken me from Caracas to Miami, collaborating with leading networks and brands such as HBO, Discovery Channel, Nickelodeon, Telemundo Deportes, NBCUniversal, ABC, and beIN Sports USA.
Over time, I’ve learned that the real craft isn’t just in design or animation, it’s in adapting, staying curious, and helping brands tell stories that connect emotionally. That’s what keeps me creating every day.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many others from my generation, I had to leave my home country, Venezuela, in search of stability and opportunity. Leaving behind my mother, my friends, and everything familiar was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. My father passed away while I was abroad, and not being there by his side is something that will always stay with me.
Those experiences shaped who I am. They taught me to keep moving forward, to adapt, and to pour all that emotion into my work. I still believe Venezuela will be free again, and that the people responsible for its destruction will face justice. Until then, I carry my country with me in everything I create.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Salty Sea Grapes is a Motion Graphics Design Studio. We are Motion Designers, Filmmakers, and Artists, driven to bring ideas and stories to life with motion. We’re not just order takers; we push boundaries, explore new creative frontiers, and deliver work that’s bold, sophisticated, and impactful.
Our portfolio spans sports, tech, and entertainment, helping in-house teams launch campaigns, titles, and toolkits that truly connect. Services include show packages and title sequences, broadcast and streaming toolkits, branded content, logo animations, network IDs, and creative development.
What sets us apart is our approach: we collaborate deeply, adapt quickly, and bring passion to every project. Our work reflects a love for design and storytelling, producing visuals that resonate and leave an impression.
We also created The Dock, a creative partnership model. Inspired by growing up by the sea, The Dock is where the tide meets the land, a steady place to launch, land, and create something lasting. It’s built for in-house teams who need a trusted, high-caliber creative partner to work alongside them, with intention, meaning, and a human touch.
At Salty Sea Grapes and The Dock, we design with purpose, animate with meaning, and build stories that connect. Quietly, clearly, and with soul.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I live in Weston, Florida, though most of my clients are based in Miami. What I love most about Weston is how family-friendly it is, great people, lots of parks, and plenty of sports and activities for kids. I love that my children can play outside safely, almost like I did growing up by the beach in Venezuela.
What I like least is that it’s become quite expensive, and it’s not the most convenient location for my work. Since most of my clients are in Miami, I often find myself commuting about 45 minutes each way.
