Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnathan Cyprien.
Hi Johnathan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Born and raised by two immigrant parents and a family of 5 in Miami, Fl presented challenges I was ignorant of at a young age. Finding a passion for the game of football early in my life turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to me. Attending North Miami Beach high school and earning a college scholarship from FIU to play football, I wasn’t only able to enjoy the sport I loved, but now I could earn a higher education due to my hard work and dedication to the game and grade school.
Excelling at FIU I was noticed by the next level of the sport and eventually drafted in 2013 to the Jacksonville Jaguars #33 overall; the highest draft pick in FIU history. I played 4 years in Jacksonville where I broke records on the field, began a real estate investment portfolio, and created the Cyp Squad At-Risk Youth Foundation. My next four years playing in the NFL was for the Tennessee Titans (2 yrs), Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons (1yr), and the San Francisco 49ers (1yr) we’re I battled injuries and decided to retire from the game I loved since a very young age.
Exiting the NFL I began to focus on real estate, my foundation and being more involved with my alma mater FIU. I became a licensed sales associate in the state of Florida to continue my real estate investments all the while helping past and present NFL athletes invest as well. Continuing to give back through my foundation I created the Top Teen awards where we honor young people with scholarships and mentorship for outstanding accomplishments through their lessforchnate circumstances.
The involvement with my university opened unexpected opportunities. I created Inside the Cage and name, Image, & likeness (NIL) company to help college student-athletes get compensated for their brand. Currently, I work in all three fields where I think to create a long-lasting impact in people’s lives, and I believe this to be my life’s purpose.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. Injuries in football, expectations, minimal support from those who you thought you could count on going into a project. All things that make the process challenging but exciting at the same time.

Inside the Cage (ITC) is a name, image, and likeness (NIL) collective that brokers marketing deals between businesses and college student-athletes. ITC also provides a curriculum for student-athletes on mental health, financial literacy, and life skills. Moreover, with 98% of athletes not going on to play professional sports, job placement for our athletes is another key factor we help facilitate.
