Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabel Salazar.
Hi Isabel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Originally from a small city in Colombia called Pereira. I grew up in a farm with my first job at the age of 5 collecting eggs from all the chickens with a very unique basket.
My dream was to come to the USA for a better life opportunity and I was blessed to have that opportunity when I turned 15 and moved to NY.
After college, I moved to Miami where I started working as a fashion stylist for celebrities and socialites with major brands such as Ralph Lauren, Christian Dior, Luca Luca, and ST JOHN. Fashion has been on my DNA since I was very young.
I started My brand of denim and body shapers Isaxshaper which has been very successful. after the pandemic, it was the “wrong” time to start a business, but I have always believed there’s no such of thing as the right time.
I went for it, I am not saying it has been as easy, but I had been able to manage. I can say I really like challenges.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been a bit challenging since the country wasn’t ready to go out and shop after most people were not able to work for a while because of the pandemic.
I had to be very creative on what kind of merchandise I was introducing and the price point. I also had to introduced myself and my brand to a different community from where I was used to before.
It has been a learning experience; some days are amazing, and some are not but you just get up and move on.
finding a mentor is a must for any business owner.
We’ve been impressed with Mia & Limon Boutique, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started Mia & Limon because I wanted to be a fashion stylist for every female that wanted to look fabulous but didn’t know how to put an outfit together or didn’t want to break the bank.
I ask a few questions and then I put outfits for different occasions and show different ways on how to use one particular item on different outfit ideas.
My boutique is a happy place, very colorful and fun, you will always enjoy a glass of wine or coffee, music is always playing while we have lots of laughs.
My clients become my friends and they are all repeat customers.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The online business is very strong, so I am concentrating a lot on my body shapers that are helping so many ladies get back into shape.
Some people still enjoy coming to a small boutique where they can feel the product and see exactly how it is going to look besides the personal attention that you will get.
