Today we’d like to introduce you to Iryna Corrigan.
Hi Iryna, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Our Story
Founded in 2023, BYOB Sports (Bring Your Own Balls) is a Miami-based community-first
sports technology company reimagining how today’s players connect, compete, and belong through racket sports.
What began as a small WhatsApp group of tennis enthusiasts has rapidly evolved into one of the fastest-growing
social tennis communities in South Florida and beyond.
Built by tennis players for tennis players, the BYOB app allows users to discover local hitting partners, host or
join matches, chat directly within the platform, and review player profiles before stepping on court. The
experience removes friction from the traditional process of organizing tennis, while prioritizing balance, trust, and
community.
What truly sets BYOB apart is its emphasis on connection beyond the court. Users consistently highlight the
platform’s role in fostering genuine friendships, welcoming newcomers, and creating an inclusive tennis culture,
particularly in cities where courts are full but communities are fragmented.
“BYOB is doing something that was missing in Miami – building a real tennis community,” says one user.
“Through the app, I’ve met new partners, made genuine friends, and even created business opportunities just bymeeting people on the court.”
Another longtime member shares: “It’s the first time I’ve truly felt part of a tennis community. I used to hit with just a few friends – now I have many people at my level to play with, and we often hang out after tennis too.”
The app’s thoughtful features, including sensible level rankings and detailed player profiles, help ensure balanced
matches while giving users confidence in who they’ll be playing with. Whether players are looking for social hits
or more competitive play, BYOB adapts naturally to their goals.
“Our vision was never to build just another sports app,” says Iryna Corrigan, Founder of BYOB Sports. “We wanted to create a space where tennis brings people together — where showing up to play can lead to friendships, confidence, and a sense of belonging.”
Since its launch, BYOB has grown organically through word of mouth, becoming one of the most active tennis
communities in South Florida. With an expanding user base and a growing calendar of social and competitive
tennis meet-ups, BYOB continues to redefine how modern tennis players connect, both on and off the court.
BYOB Sports’ mission is simple: make tennis more social, more accessible, and more human, one match at a
time.
About BYOB
BYOB Sports (Bring Your Own Balls) is a Miami-based tennis community and app that helps players find
partners, organize matches, and build meaningful connections through the sport. Designed by tennis players,
BYOB combines smart matchmaking with a strong sense of community to make playing tennis easier, more
social, and more inclusive.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. It’s been a lot of learning, trial and error, and figuring things out as we go. Most of our growth has been organic, and our members have honestly played a huge role in helping BYOB grow and evolve. Listening to the community has helped us understand what people actually want and shape the direction of the platform along the way.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
BYOB Sports is a social tennis and sports community focused on bringing people together through real-life connections and active lifestyles. We started as a tennis community in Miami and have grown into a fast-growing platform and app where people can find matches, join events, connect with players, and become part of an active social community.
What sets BYOB apart is that we are community-first. We are not just about booking courts or finding matches — we create experiences that help people meet new friends, stay active, network, and feel connected through sports.
We are most proud of our organic growth and the strong community we’ve built. Our members have played a huge role in shaping the brand, and that authentic community-driven energy is what makes BYOB special.
What does success mean to you?
For BYOB, success is about building a strong, active community that creates real-life connections through sports. Of course we want to grow the platform and business, but the biggest success for us is seeing people meet new friends, build relationships, stay active, and feel part of something bigger through BYOB.
We also define success by the impact we create — helping people spend less time isolated behind screens and more time connecting in person through tennis, events, and shared experiences.
