Inspiring Conversations with Hanssy Sanchez of HS ACCOUNTING

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hanssy Sanchez.

Hi Hanssy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was raised by an immigrant single mother who taught me the value of hard work and perseverance. I started working as a teenager to help support her and that drive has stayed with me ever since. After high school, a college career wasn’t an option financially, so I began learning everything I could about accounting through books, college courses, seminars, and working different roles to gain hands-on experience.
I became a mother at age 20, which put college on pause for a while but my goal was clear. When I was able to, I went back to school, earned my Associate’s and later my Bachelor’s in Finance. In 2017, I started my accounting business and later became licensed with the IRS to prepare tax returns.
For years I balanced my business with a second job , but always believed in what I was building. A couple of years ago, I took the leap to dedicate myself full time and since then, my firm has continued to grow. What I love most about what I do is helping people feel confident about their finances. My journey has always been about resilience, faith, and turning challenges into opportunities.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not an easy road. One of the biggest challenges has been being a woman in a male-dominated industry. Early in my career, I often felt like I had to work twice as hard to prove that I belonged, that I was capable, that I could be trusted. On top of that, balancing motherhood, running a business, and continuing my education was far from easy. There were late nights, moments of doubt, and times when giving up was an easier option. But those challenges shaped me; every obstacle became a lesson, and every setback reminded me why I started.

As you know, we’re big fans of HS ACCOUNTING. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
HS Accounting was born from a simple goal: to help people understand and feel confident about their finances. What began as a small idea has now grown into a full accounting and tax firm serving individuals and small businesses.

We specialize in tax preparation, bookkeeping, new business formation, financial consulting, and resolutions, but what truly defines us is our personal approach. I know how overwhelming managing finances can be for many people, and I wanted to change that. We don’t just handle forms or transactions; we educate, guide, and support our clients through every financial decision.
What sets us apart is the relationship we build with our clients. We stay connected year-round, not just tax season, because their success and peace of mind matter to us. Most of our growth has come from referrals, and I consider that the biggest compliment; it means people trust us enough to share their experiences with others.

I’m most proud that our brand stands for integrity, education, trust, and empowerment. We believe that financial clarity gives people control, confidence, and the freedom to grow. We’re not just helping with taxes or accounting, we’re helping people build stronger, more stable futures.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something most people don’t know about me is that I built my career and business from the ground up, long before I had a degree or the resources to do it “the traditional way”. I used every free resource I could find to learn and understand how everything worked. I had to work multiple jobs to finance my business.
People see a polish brand today, but behind it is someone who took risks, faced uncertainty, and kept going even when it didn’t make sense. That’s the energy that fuels our brand, real story, real growth, and resilience.
