Inspiring Conversations with Gabrielle Belinfante of TreatYouFul Cakes & Treats

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Belinfante.

Gabrielle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started baking during COVID after realizing that many birthday cakes I tried didn’t taste very good. I’ve always loved a good slice of cake, so I decided to try baking one myself. A friend who baked gave me a few tips, and I made my first cake during the pandemic.

After that, I started baking almost every day, giving cakes to my friends so they could taste them and give me honest feedback. At first, I was focused on getting the flavor right because I really just wanted to create a delicious cake. Eventually, I tried decorating one, and it was awful. But I’m someone who always strives for perfection, so I kept practicing.

I taught myself how to bake and decorate cakes through YouTube videos and online research. As I improved, my friends began requesting cakes for their celebrations. The first item I ever sold was my Oreo brownies, which quickly became a hit. That gave me the confidence to start offering custom cakes.

Over the past six years, my business, TreatYouFul Cakes, has grown tremendously. I now have many returning clients who trust me with their special occasions. I also work a full-time corporate job while balancing being a wife and mom of three, so it has definitely been a journey.

The most rewarding part is seeing clients come back year after year for their celebrations. I truly love being able to create something special and be part of people’s most meaningful moments.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like many small businesses, there has been a lot of trial and error along the way. In the beginning, I was teaching myself everything, from baking techniques to decorating through YouTube videos and online research, so there were many failed cakes and learning moments.

Another challenge has been balancing everything. I work a full-time corporate job and I’m also a wife and mom of three, so learning how to manage my time while growing the business was something I had to figure out and am still figuring out! There were late nights baking and a lot of learning about how to run a business while still maintaining quality.

But those challenges really helped me grow. Each mistake made me better, and over time my skills and confidence improved. Seeing my clients come back year after year for their celebrations makes all the hard work worth it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about TreatYouFul Cakes & Treats?
TreatYouFul Cakes is a home-based bakery that specializes in custom cakes, cupcakes, and desserts for celebrations and special events. The brand was built around one simple idea: cake should taste just as amazing as it looks. From the beginning, my focus has always been on creating desserts that people truly enjoy eating, not just admiring.

I’m known for custom buttercream cakes and unique flavor combinations, as well as desserts that feel personalized for each client’s celebration. Whether it’s birthdays, baby showers, milestone celebrations, or themed events, I enjoy bringing my clients’ visions to life through cake design. One of the first items that gained popularity in my business was my Oreo brownies, which are still a favorite among many of my customers.

What sets TreatYouFul apart is the attention to flavor, detail, and the personal connection with clients. Every order is thoughtfully designed and made with quality ingredients and care. Because I run the business myself, I’m very involved in understanding what each client wants and making sure their dessert feels special and memorable.

Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the loyalty and trust of my clients. Many of them return year after year for their family celebrations, and it’s incredibly meaningful to be part of those moments. TreatYouFul has grown through word-of-mouth, referrals, and consistent quality, which is something I’m very proud of.

What I want readers to know about TreatYouFul Cakes is that it’s a brand built on passion, creativity, and a genuine love for making people happy through dessert. Every cake is made with the intention of adding something sweet and memorable to someone’s special day.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My biggest piece of advice for anyone starting out is to be patient with the process and give yourself time to grow. In the beginning, you’re going to make mistakes, and that’s part of learning. Every cake I struggled with or every design that didn’t turn out the way I expected helped me improve my skills.

I would also encourage people to focus on mastering the basics before trying to do everything at once. Building a strong foundation with flavors, baking techniques, and simple designs makes a big difference over time.

One thing I wish I knew earlier was how important it is to value your time and your work. When you’re starting out, it can be easy to underprice or take on too much, but learning how to set boundaries and price your work properly is key to sustaining a business.

Most importantly, stay consistent and keep practicing. Growth doesn’t happen overnight, but if you keep showing up, learning, and improving, the progress will come.
