Inspiring Conversations with Eliyahu Albert of Eli Albert, Counseling Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eliyahu Albert.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always felt a strong calling toward self-improvement and a desire to share meaningful insights with others. My journey began with three years of study at a theological seminary as I explored the path toward becoming a rabbi. During that time, deep self-reflection and personal growth helped me realize that what I was most passionate about was connecting with others and making a direct impact in their lives.

That realization led me to pursue youth religious outreach, where I found great fulfillment in building relationships and supporting young people in their personal development. Eventually, the school I primarily worked with faced a shortage of teachers and asked for my help, which opened the door to teaching in a formal classroom setting. It was in that environment that I recognized how much I valued both the relational aspects of outreach and the transformative potential of education.

This combination of experiences ultimately led me to the field of psychotherapy, where I saw an opportunity to merge my passion for personal connection, growth, and education into a meaningful career. Each stage of my journey taught me more about who I am and the kind of impact I want to have on the world. I’ve now been fortunate to work as a Mental Health Counselor for the past six years, helping others navigate their own paths to growth and healing.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I believe it’s the bumps along the road thats sensitize us towards self-awareness and growth. 3 years into my studies in theological seminary, I experienced a nervous breakdown, which I believe was my soul and intuitive self’s way of informing me that I was not destined for a life of isolated religious study. The struggles of the school I worked with (which directly impacted the number of students who could attend my religious program adjacent to the school), led me to discovering my passion for teaching, and the yearning for the direct personal touch in another’s life brought me to my calling as a therapist. I needed to experience each leg of the journey to fully appreciate where I have arrived in my career.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I help others to grow in their pursuit of finding meaning in their lives. I believe what helps me stand out is my unique educational background and history of helping others in different capacities. This has taught me to look for and accept wisdom from multiple sources and instead of simply providing generic teachings and instruction, I have learned to look at others as unique individuals whose needs I aim to discover through genuine human connection.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The desire for true human connection and understanding of the challenges of the human condition.
