Inspiring Conversations with Eduardo Wainberg of Happea’s Mediterranean Grill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eduardo Wainberg.

Hi Eduardo, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Happea’s was born from the shared vision of two brothers-in-law and friends — Danny and myself, Eduardo. Danny brings his Mediterranean roots and creative spirit, while I bring the engineering and operational side that turns ideas into reality. Together, we set out to build a quick-service concept that makes people feel good about what they eat — food that’s vibrant, nourishing, and full of life.

We started with a few simple but powerful choices: cooking exclusively with avocado oil and preparing our hummus fresh to order — warm, creamy, and authentic. Since then, we’ve evolved constantly — making all our sauces from scratch in-house and replacing refined sugars with organic dates in most of our recipes. Our passion for clean eating and relentless drive to improve push us to keep researching, testing, and innovating every single day.

Getting to where we are today has taken resilience, hard work, and faith. We’ve been blessed with an incredible core team whose dedication and heart have been essential to our growth — and with loyal customers who have become true ambassadors of our brand, spreading the word and sharing our mission.

And above all, we thank God — because without His guidance and help, none of this would have been possible.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. Like many small businesses, our journey has been full of challenges that tested our resilience and commitment to our mission. We opened right before the pandemic hit, so navigating through COVID was one of our first big hurdles. We had to adapt quickly — from managing supply shortages to changing how we served our guests — all while keeping our team and customers safe.

On top of that, we went through two store relocations, each one teaching us valuable lessons about patience, planning, and perseverance. And of course, we’ve made our share of mistakes along the way — but each one has helped us grow, refine our vision, and get closer to the standard of excellence we strive for.

Through it all, what’s kept us going is our passion for what we do, our belief in clean, honest food, and the amazing community that has supported us through every step.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Happea’s Mediterranean Grill?
At Happea’s, we’re redefining what quick-service dining can be. We specialize in Mediterranean-inspired food that’s vibrant, nourishing, and made with intention. Every dish is crafted from real ingredients — we cook exclusively with avocado oil, make all our sauces in-house from scratch, and prepare our hummus fresh to order. You won’t find anything processed or artificial in our kitchen — just honest, feel-good food made with love.

What truly sets us apart is our obsession with quality and care. We’re seed-oil free, we sweeten with organic dates instead of refined sugars, and we’re constantly researching and improving how we do things — from ingredients to preparation — to make our food as clean and delicious as possible.

Brand-wise, we’re most proud of the trust and loyalty we’ve built. Our guests have become ambassadors, sharing our story and values far beyond our walls. Happea’s has grown into more than a restaurant — it’s a community built on passion, transparency, and heart.

We want readers to know that when they come to Happea’s, they’re not just eating — they’re part of a movement that believes food should make you feel as good as it tastes.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What we love most about Miami is its energy and diversity. The city is full of life — a melting pot of cultures, flavors, and ideas that constantly inspires us. People here appreciate good food and good vibes, and that passion pushes us to keep creating and evolving. Miami has a unique rhythm — fast-paced but full of heart — and we love being part of that.

What we like least is probably the challenge that comes with that same fast pace — things move quickly, and sometimes it’s hard to find consistency, especially when it comes to operations, permitting, or logistics. But every challenge has made us stronger and more adaptable.

At the end of the day, we’re proud to be part of this incredible city. Miami has embraced Happea’s from day one, and we wouldn’t want to grow anywhere else.
