Dr. Morad Askari founded Revive Surgical Institute in Coral Gables after more than 15 years of building an exceptional foundation in medicine, earning his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh, completing specialized training in plastic surgery, reconstructive hand surgery, and microvascular reconstruction, and serving as an Associate Professor at the University of Miami, where he contributed extensively to research and the education of the next generation of surgeons.
The move from academic medicine to founding his own practice was intentional. Dr. Askari wanted to create a space where cutting-edge surgical techniques and compassionate, personalized care could exist under one roof. I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has never been perfectly smooth, and Revive Surgical Institute is stronger for it. The transition from academic medicine to building a private practice from the ground up was one of the most defining challenges Dr. Askari faced. In academia, there is built-in infrastructure, institutional support, and a network of colleagues. Founding Revive meant that every decision, from clinical protocols to assembling an elite medical team, rested entirely on his shoulders and his wife, the practice manager.
