Today we’d like to introduce you to Dj Future.
Hi Dj, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi, my name is Wentworth Donaldson Jr. and I am known by stage name ‘Dj Future’. I am one of the most popular DJs in the Bahamas. My career as a DJ started from about 9 years old under a family-owned company called ‘Scorpion Entertainment’. My father, Dj Scorpio has shown me the basics of being a DJ at an early age because he is also a DJ. After the basics were mastered, I took the knowledge gained and have been constantly improving ever since. In junior high, my events increased and consequently my name got more popular. Normally a high schooler would socialize with peers or rest on the weekends; however, I was not your average high schooler. I would DJ at local parties and business establishments on the weekends while I concurrently excelled academically and maintained honour roll status throughout high school.
Upon DJing at local establishments, a radio personality was pleased by my abilities at such a young age and I was then offered a job interview at a local radio station. Once I was given the opportunity to broadcast my talent on a top radio station, the phones were ringing off the hook! Everyone wanted to know who was Dj Future and how can they book him. These opportunities opened many doors for me and of course, I took advantage!
In early years, I have performed to hundreds of events on my home island Grand Bahama and I soon began peaking the interests of other islands and countries. In 2014, I was flown to Mayaguana to DJ for a weekend at their annual “Conch Fest”. The natives were pleased by my performance and I was requested to return the following year. During this time, I was pursuing my bachelor’s degree in accounting at the University of the Bahamas. I was very active during my university tenure. I would play to numerous events done by the University of the Bahamas. While there, I assisted the students at the university in the Division President capacity in the Student Government Association. I also volunteered to assist the college life department whenever called upon. If you are wondering, yes! I graduated with my BBA in Accounting in 2017 at the age of 20 years old. Accounting is my other passion.
In 2019, a former client’s relative that resided in Atlanta, Georgia flew me down for her husband’s 50th birthday party. I wowed hundreds of attendees at the event and since then I have traveled back to Atlanta several times for events. I have also performed in other cities in the United States of America and on other islands of the Bahamas. Over the years, the nature of my work included but is not limited to corporate events, banquets, weddings, and parties. I am known as the Dj that plays the music you love and I am guaranteed to bring you all the vibes with an experience you’ll truly enjoy.
In 2020, during the pandemic, while clubs were closed and events were at a hiatus, I started mixing on online radio stations to entertain my followers. I gained over 100,000 listeners in a short time period. Each day I am improving my craft. I love what I do every day and constantly I thank God for allowing me this great gift. I truly believe “a man’s gift opens doors for him” and I have no doubt because I have seen this first hand. I know that God still has plans for me and I am elated about it.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There was a time in my life when I was heartbroken and music helped me get over my heartbreak. Music allows me to escape. I love entertaining and putting smiles on strangers faces. This allows me to feel free.

My services includes, but is not limited to MC services and equipment rentals. In this role I am responsible for playing pre-recorded music from other musicians, usually drawing from a large collection of available songs that may suit the theme of the event or the venue that I may be working. As a DJ, it is my duty to play an array of music for entertainment purposes and the enjoyment of other people. This is what I love most!
What separates me from other DJs is my ability to be very versatile amongst my music selections when booked. Typically, I do consider my target audience when making my selections. I have been in the disc jockey business for 10+ years and have done an array of performances. I have been able to work in a variety of places due to the large range of opportunity available in the music industry, such as radio stations, private bookings, international bookings, cruise ports, weddings, parties, dance clubs, and more. Whether our venue is a local nightclub or a wedding, Scorpion Entertainment offers professional services that leave every guest with a truly memorable experience.
Our main marketing strategy has been social media marketing through mediums like Instagram and Facebook; however, we plan to run ads on the radio as well. Also, I welcome networking and consequently I obtain many bookings through referrals. My talent and experience have allowed me to perform on most of the major islands of The Bahamas and internationally.

I love the opportunities, accessibility & party culture. I dislike the hatred and racism whenever faced of some people.
