Inspiring Conversations with Connie & Ben Spiske of SunConsult Home Service Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Connie & Ben Spiske.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
SunConsult started very pragmatically. We both came from design, architecture, and construction backgrounds and saw a clear gap in the market between design intent and real execution. Too often, clients were paying for beautiful concepts that broke down during construction, or for construction that ignored design quality, cost control, and long-term value.
We founded SunConsult to close that gap. From the beginning, the goal was simple: combine strong architectural thinking, thoughtful interior design, and hands-on construction management into one coordinated service. That way, clients get clarity, accountability, and results instead of friction between designers, contractors, and consultants.
In the early phase, we were involved in everything ourselves. Design development, material selection, permitting, site supervision, trade coordination, and direct client communication. That hands-on work was essential. It allowed us to build our standards, understand where projects typically go wrong, and develop processes that work in practice, not just in theory.
As the company grew, SunConsult evolved from a small, project-driven operation into a structured home service and interior construction company. We expanded our team, professionalized our workflows, and focused on high-quality residential and selected commercial projects where precision, trust, and accountability matter most.
Today, SunConsult is guided by a clear philosophy: we charge clients only for what they truly need, we work with high-quality materials and reliable partners, and we take full responsibility from concept through execution. That focus has allowed us to grow consistently while maintaining strong client relationships, repeat business, and a reputation built on delivery rather than promises.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. Building SunConsult was challenging from the start. As owners, Connie and Ben were deeply involved in everything, combining interior design, architectural thinking, and hands-on construction oversight. Balancing creative design decisions with the realities of budgets, permits, and execution was a constant challenge early on.
Another key learning curve was managing expectations. Interior design only works when it’s aligned with construction from day one, so we had to be very clear about scope, decisions, and priorities, even when that meant slowing things down to get them right.
At the same time, we were building a team and systems while projects were already running. That forced us to grow fast, make adjustments, and professionalize early.
Those challenges shaped SunConsult into a company where design and execution are fully aligned and where Connie’s interior design expertise and Ben’s technical and construction background work together as one system.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
SunConsult is an interior design and construction company led by owners Connie and Ben, focused on high-quality residential and select commercial projects. We integrate interior design, architectural thinking, and construction into one coordinated service, with a strong influence from European design principles.

We specialize in projects where design quality, technical precision, and long-term functionality matter. Our work includes interior renovations, custom cabinetry and millwork, and full apartment and home remodels. We are known for translating European-inspired design clarity into built reality clean lines, thoughtful proportions, durable materials, and interiors that age well rather than chase short-term trends.

What sets SunConsult apart is how tightly design and execution are connected. Connie leads the interior design with a European sensibility focused on balance, material honesty, and livability. Ben brings architectural, technical, and construction management expertise, ensuring every design decision is buildable, compliant, and executed as intended. Clients work with one accountable team, not a chain of disconnected consultants.
We are deliberate about scope and transparency. We charge clients only for what they truly need, define services clearly, and are direct when something adds complexity without value. That approach protects quality, budgets, and timelines and builds long-term trust.

Brand-wise, we are most proud of our reputation for reliability and delivery. Our projects are defined by precision, clean execution, and durability, and much of our work comes from repeat clients and referrals.

What we want readers to know is this: SunConsult is not about decoration or trends. It’s about European-level design discipline paired with hands-on execution and full responsibility from concept to completion. Clients who value clarity, quality, and accountability tend to recognize that difference immediately.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5–10 years, the interior design and construction industry will move away from fragmented services and toward fully integrated, execution-driven models. Clients are already signaling this shift. They want fewer interfaces, clearer responsibility, and outcomes they can trust.

At SunConsult, this is already how we operate. Our services combine interior design, architectural coordination, permitting support, and construction execution under one roof. That structure directly responds to where the industry is going.
One major shift will be the expectation that interior design is not just about aesthetics but about buildability, cost control, and long-term performance. Clients increasingly expect designers to understand construction realities and contractors to respect design intent. The traditional separation between “creative” and “technical” roles is eroding, and firms that can’t bridge that gap will struggle.

Another clear trend is the growing demand for European-influenced design principles in the U.S. market. Clients are moving away from overdecorated, trend-heavy interiors toward cleaner layouts, durable materials, custom cabinetry, and spaces that feel intentional and timeless. This aligns directly with SunConsult’s approach, where design decisions are driven by proportion, material quality, and functionality, not short-term trends.

Transparency will also become non-negotiable. Vague scopes, unclear allowances, and constant surprises are no longer tolerated. Our emphasis on clearly defined services, realistic budgets, and honest conversations reflects what clients will increasingly expect as standard practice.
From a service standpoint, customization will remain important, but it will become smarter and more disciplined. Instead of excessive square footage or unnecessary complexity, the focus will shift to efficient layouts, high-quality millwork, and interiors tailored to how people actually live. This is where SunConsult’s execution-focused interior design and construction management model adds real value.

Finally, accountability will define successful brands. Companies that take full responsibility from concept through completion and stand behind their work will outperform those that only control part of the process. That is the core of SunConsult’s service model and the direction the industry is clearly heading.

In short, the future favors firms that are integrated, precise, transparent, and design-driven without losing technical control. SunConsult isn’t adapting to that future. It was built for it.
