Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Restrepo.
Hi Christian, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It all starts because I have to start working since young, 16 years old because my dad had passed away, he got shot and then died in the hospital0, we were living in Colombia so since very little I felt like I had to help my mom recover everything we lost, because my dad’s death meant a lot of financial loss besides not having him anymore.
Things are not going great in Colombia so we decide to move to USA again in 2017, start from scratch, I started working 3 jobs when I arrived, babysitting, janitor and security at Bar Mitzvahs; after that I received an offer/opportunity for the same company I was working for but to work inside of UM in the Jewish Campus, Hillel, here I arrived being a janitor, two years after they were very happy with the way I worked so I got hired directly by UM Hillel, became the facility manager of UM Hillel for another 2 years and then finally I met Onn Biri, who is my business partner, he had already founded the company where we’re business partners now, we met and he saw me as a good fit for the company, made me an offer and I accepted, an offer that took a lot of courage to accept because literally my job from UM told me: “How much do you want to get paid to not leave?” and not only that, I had health insurance, paid vacations and other benefits I was also quitting to, to work for a small business, it was a leap of faith for me, I wasn’t sure I was making a right decision, but I wanted to change things in my life, get out of my comfort zone, so I started to work as an employee of Atlantikos Vacation Rentals, I was the host and handyman at the same time, my previous work experiences helped me have a bit of knowledge in the handyman area so I did this for almost 2 years and then after almost 2 years, Onn Biri, decided to make me his business partner, he saw how much I cared and how dedicated I was and he had the vote of trust in me to be his business partner at Atlantikos and today I’m the person running Atlantikos Vacation Rentals, a process totally worth it, no regrets, no looking back, no missing anything from the past, we now have an excellent reputation and beatiful houses and I’m very proud of what we’ve built so far and looking forward to keep expanding and improving.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s hasn’t, my dad’s death and loss of almost everything we had, I came back to USA in 2017 to start my life from zero, my parents blessed me with being born here in United States so I could start my life over again.
We’ve been impressed with Atlantikos Management, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We’re a vacation rental company, we specialize in vacation rental homes and apartments, what makes us different from everyone is that everything is personal for us, our company doesn’t stop or finish a day until a guest is 100% happy, our guests are our family
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Always good luck, everything has happened perfectly, everything happens how it should happen in life, as long as you’re doing things right and putting an effort everyday, life will give you back the same you put into it.
