Today we’d like to introduce you to Brady Lynch & Ethan Landen.
Hi Brady & Ethan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
We are two high school seniors who started their fragrance business towards the end of their junior year (May 2024). We handcraft each scent and bottle and design our own labels. We have created seven different scents so far and are looking to create three more very soon. We started off selling it to family, friends, classmates, and teachers at our school. Since then, we have expanded our recognition and sales by utilizing our social media and website. We held a fundraiser in the month of October where we took $5 from each sale and donated it to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, adding up to a total of $100 donated by our company. We also participated in a pop up market on June 7, 2025 and made 40 sales during the seven hour market, which greatly exceeded our expectations. We are planning on participating in several more farmer’s markets in the future. We are also planning on hosting a fragrance workshop at Harbor Chase assisted living facility in Coral Springs on July 12, 2025, where we will teach the elderly residents how to craft their own cologne/perfume.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One challenge we have faced includes getting our friends at school to like our scents. At lunchtime, we would go up to our classmates sitting at a table together, and if a single person there didn’t like the way one of our fragrances smelled, they all collectively agreed without even really giving it a chance. It was frustrating for Ethan and me, but we didn’t take it personally and used it to drive us to get more people to like it. Also, getting a business up and running is always the hardest part. Our parents have been very generous in providing the funds we needed, and we have since paid them back for everything while maintaining a profit to pour back into the business. We are still currently struggling with expanding our social media outreach, but we are happy with the results we have received so far.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a fragrance brand out of Hollywood, Florida that specializes in all-natural colognes and perfumes. We are two high schoolers who came up with the idea and turned it into a reality. We experiment with each scent until we get it to our liking, and then we calculate from the tiny batch how much essential oil we need in a normal-sized batch. Our fragrances are all-natural because they only contain 3 ingredients: naturally derived essential oils, alcohol (95% ethanol), and water. We do not use any harsh or artificial chemicals, unlike other fragrance brands (including designer ones). Another thing that makes us stand out is the charms that we attach to each bottle with twine. Each scent has its own unique charm, with some of them coming in a few different colors. Ethan and I are most proud of how much time and effort we put into the company. We are always able to work around each other’s schedules and find time to do what needs to be done, whether that be updating our website, creating a new post for our socials, or filling bottles. We want others to know that we frequently donate to the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, although we are not directly affiliated with them.
Any big plans?
Our plans for the future are to create and release car air fresheners with our company logo and fragrances. We are also currently working on getting merchandise made (like T-shirts) for our customers to buy so they can show their support. Although our name is Land ‘en’ Sea Fragrances, we are not limiting ourselves to just that. We are open to creating any idea that has the possibility of becoming a product.
