Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth.
Hi Beth, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After three decades in professional sports helping elite athletes reach peak performance—often as the only woman in the room—I’ve developed a unique perspective shaped by grit, playfulness, and a love for novelty. I wanted to channel my passion for sports, adventure, and my wry sense of humor into something new. That spark turned into Dirty Sports Books—a series of light, clever, and totally original coffee-table books designed to make people laugh, blush, and think twice.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Publishing has been a whole new adventure—like learning an entirely new game. Every step has come with its own mix of challenges and discoveries, but that’s what keeps it exciting. I’ve genuinely loved the process, and it’s been an incredibly rewarding learning curve.
What’s made it even more special is sharing the journey with my lifelong friend, Elizabeth Titcomb, the illustrator who brings the series to life. Drawing on the teamwork skills I honed in sports, it’s been a masterclass collaborating with Elizabeth, IngramSpark, Hype, and Maggie Weldin Drummond to turn this fun, cheeky vision into a reality.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Dirty Sports Books is a playful publishing company that celebrates the slang, humor, and double entendres found in every sport. I wanted to create something fresh and unexpected—coffee-table books that are smart, cheeky, and truly original.
Each title—from Dirty Baseball. to Dirty Pickleball. and Dirty Tennis.—transforms everyday sports lingo into a wink-worthy celebration of culture, competition, and camaraderie.
What sets Dirty Sports Books apart is that the humor comes from inside the game. Athletes love it just as much as fans do. The books are clean enough for your living room, but sassy enough to make you grin. I’m most proud of how these books bring people together through laughter—bridging the gap between players, fans, and anyone who appreciates a clever double meaning.
At its core, the brand is about fun, wit, and connection. It’s not just about sports—it’s about the way we play, talk, and tease. Truly clean books for the dirty mind.
What matters most to you?
Family. No matter how demanding my schedule gets, I always carve out time to stay connected—that’s what grounds me. Everyone in my sports family knows that Sundays at 8:30 AM EST are sacred: my family Zoom. Any of the fourteen of us who can join, do. It’s my favorite weekly tradition and a boisterously consistent reminder of what truly matters.
