Inspiring Conversations with Avery Akkineni of VaynerX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Avery Akkineni.

Hi Avery, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m Avery Akkineni, CMO of VaynerX. My career began in Silicon Valley at Google, where I first developed my passion for digital marketing. In 2018, I joined VaynerMedia, and then spent a few years building our Asia Pacific business from scratch. We grew from zero to 150 employees across Singapore, Bangkok, Tokyo, and Sydney, eventually earning Marketing Interactive’s Independent Agency of the Year.

I then founded Vayner3, an innovation consultancy guiding Fortune 500 companies through emerging tech like Web3, generative AI, and immersive digital experiences. Currently, I am the Chief Marketing Officer at VaynerX where I lead brand strategy, content, events, and communications.

Throughout my career, my approach has remained the same: find where culture and technology are about to collide and get there before the rest of the industry shows up. APAC was that bet. Web3 was that bet. As we navigate the rise of AI, it feels like the biggest shift yet and it’s the moment we’ve been preparing for. I’m proud to continue pushing the boundaries of modern marketing, serving on marketing advisory boards for industry leaders like Salesforce, Meta, and TikTok as well as empowering teams to embrace new opportunities in this rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’d say it’s been a smooth rollercoaster! Lots of ups, downs, twists, and turns, unexpected opportunities and of course challenges along the way; learning new skills and industries, moving to different cities, but I’m grateful for all of it!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
VaynerX is a team of over 2,000 across fifteen offices, structured into various agencies and companies like VaynerMedia, ChukMedia, Tamara Group, VaynerSpeakers, Gallery Media Group and Tingley Lane Trading. My team’s focus is the overarching VaynerX brand that unifies them, driving new business and telling the VaynerX story. We direct global marketing and communications, handling PR, events, original content, and internal operations, spanning globally across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC regions.

Our uniqueness is that we are a social-first marketing entity that identifies underpriced attention and represents major global brands while simultaneously being a brand in our own right. We are marketing directly to the same CMOs we serve, which fundamentally shifts our approach.

In practice, this translates to over fifty annual events, consistent multimillion view LinkedIn engagement, and a volume of content output unmatched by any independent agency in our sector. Fifteen offices, three regions, one singular brand.

What makes you happy?
Professionally, mentoring my team and seeing them accomplish their goals. Winning new business of course makes me happy too 😉
