Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Carrasquillo.
Ashley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Looking back, my story has been shaped by a lot of reinvention. I’m originally from the Boston area, and over the years I’ve taken a few leaps of faith that completely changed the course of my life. I moved across the country to California in my twenties and later made another cross-country move to Miami, where I live today.
Growing up, I didn’t come from a family of entrepreneurs. I was the first person in my family to graduate high school, so many of the opportunities I’ve had came from being willing to take chances, figure things out as I went, and trust myself even when the path wasn’t clear.
Fashion has always been something I loved because of the confidence it can give someone. I’ve always believed that what you wear can change how you feel about yourself. During the pandemic, I started thinking more seriously about what I wanted to create for myself and what kind of impact I wanted to have. That idea eventually became 929 Boutique.
I launched 929 Boutique in 2025 while continuing to work full-time in sales and events. What started as an idea quickly became a lesson in entrepreneurship. I’ve learned everything from sourcing inventory and building a website to creating content, packing orders, and connecting with customers.
The name 929 comes from my birthday, September 29. For me, it represents trusting the timing of life, following your intuition, and having the courage to build something of your own.
Today, I’m still building. The business is young, and there are plenty of things I’m still learning, but that’s what makes the journey exciting. More than anything, 929 Boutique represents taking a chance on yourself and believing that it’s never too late to start.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road.
One of the biggest challenges has been balancing two very different worlds. Even today, I sometimes feel like I live a double life. During the day, I work full-time in corporate events. Outside of work, I’m building 929 Boutique, sourcing inventory, creating content, managing the website, packing orders, and thinking about how to grow the brand.
I’ve also dealt with impostor syndrome along the way. When you’re building something from scratch, it’s easy to wonder if you’re doing enough or if you’re qualified to call yourself an entrepreneur when you’re still learning as you go. I’ve had moments where I questioned myself, especially when comparing my journey to businesses that seem much further along.
What I’ve learned is that most people are figuring things out as they go. Building a business isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about being willing to take the next step, learn from mistakes, and keep showing up even when things feel uncertain.
The challenges have taught me resilience, patience, and confidence in my ability to adapt. While I’m still very much in the middle of the journey, I’m proud of how far I’ve come and excited to see where it leads.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about 929 Boutique?
929 Boutique is an online women’s fashion boutique built around the idea that style should feel effortless, confidence-boosting, and fun.
What makes the brand special to me is how personal it is. Every piece is thoughtfully selected, and many of my buying decisions are influenced by conversations with customers, social media feedback, and understanding what real women actually want to wear. I want women to feel comfortable, confident, and like themselves, whether they’re getting dressed for brunch, vacation, date night, or everyday life.
Because 929 is still a growing brand, I’m involved in every part of the process. From selecting inventory and creating content to packing orders and responding to customer messages, every detail is handled with care. I think that level of personal connection is something that can get lost as businesses grow, and it’s something I’m proud to offer.
What sets 929 Boutique apart is that we’re not trying to chase every trend. The goal is to curate pieces that feel feminine, versatile, and timeless while still allowing women to express their personality and have fun with fashion.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is creating something that truly reflects who I am. 929 isn’t just a boutique name. It’s a representation of trusting your path, taking chances on yourself, and building something meaningful from the ground up.
I want readers to know that when they support 929 Boutique, they’re supporting a small business built with a lot of heart, intention, and appreciation for every single customer. We’re still growing, but that’s what makes this stage so exciting, and I’m grateful to have people along for the journey.
How do you think about luck?
Luck has played a huge role in my life, but not in the way people usually think about it.
One of my favorite affirmations is, “I am the luckiest girl in the world.” It might sound simple, but it’s a mindset that’s helped me through a lot of uncertainty. I’ve found that when you believe good things are possible, you’re more willing to take chances, say yes to opportunities, and keep going when things don’t work out the first time.
Looking back, there have been plenty of moments that felt lucky. Meeting the right people at the right time, moving across the country not once but twice, discovering opportunities I never could have planned for, and finding the courage to start my own business.
At the same time, I’ve learned that luck tends to show up when you’re willing to put yourself out there. Some of the best things in my life happened because I took a risk, started before I felt ready, or trusted my intuition.
With 929 Boutique, there have been moments that felt incredibly fortunate, but there have also been setbacks, challenges, and lessons. I think success is a combination of preparation, perseverance, and being open to opportunities when they appear.
More than anything, I try to approach life with gratitude. Whether it’s luck, timing, faith, or a little bit of all three, I feel incredibly fortunate to be building something I’m passionate about.
