Inspiring Conversations with Angel Hirsch of Hirsch Development Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Hirsch.

Hi Angel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been entrepreneurial by nature. I enjoy building things, solving problems, and especially taking an idea or an opportunity and figuring out how to turn it into something real. But real estate wasn’t necessarily a career path I had mapped out from the beginning.

It really started when I remodeled my own apartment. I became fascinated with the entire process—the design, the construction, the numbers, and how the right decisions could completely transform a property. More importantly, I realized that I genuinely enjoyed it. Shortly afterward, a friend called me with an opportunity to invest in and renovate a house. I decided to take the chance. We completed the project in about four months and generated an approximately 80% return on our investment. That first project opened my eyes to what could be built from there.

I founded Hirsch Development Group (HDG) and began acquiring, renovating, and developing residential properties throughout South Florida. What started with individual fix-and-flip projects gradually evolved into ground-up construction and larger development opportunities. Today, one of our most significant projects is The Estates at Skylake, a private collection of four luxury homes that represents the direction in which we continue to grow.

As I gained experience, my vision also became much broader. I realized I didn’t want HDG to simply be a company that developed and sold houses. I wanted to build an ecosystem of businesses that could complement one another.

Today, HDG has interests across real estate development and investment, construction-related businesses, and design and interiors. That includes my involvement with Bosko Home, which specializes in architectural doors, kitchens, closets, cabinetry, and custom interior solutions. Each business has its own identity and team, but there is a natural connection between them and the projects we develop.

What ties everything together is the same mentality I had at the beginning: identify opportunities where we can create real value, work with great people, and think long-term. I’m very hands-on, and I enjoy understanding every part of a business—from the financial structure and investment strategy to construction, design, operations, and the final customer experience.

We’ve come a long way from that first renovation, but I still feel like we’re just getting started. My long-term goal is to continue building HDG into a diversified group of businesses, while creating projects and companies that we can be proud of and that have a positive impact on the communities where we operate.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not, and I don’t think it ever really is when you’re building something.

One of the biggest things I’ve learned is how much there still is to learn. I didn’t come into real estate development with a traditional background in construction or development, so a lot of my education has come from being hands-on, asking questions, making mistakes, and learning from the people around me. That process is still happening today.

Every project brings a new challenge. We’ve dealt with permitting delays, construction issues, rising costs, changing interest rates, and timelines that don’t always go according to plan. Real estate has a way of keeping you humble because no matter how well you prepare, there will always be something you didn’t anticipate.

As HDG has grown and we’ve become involved in different businesses, another challenge has been learning how to build the right teams and systems around us. There is a big difference between successfully completing a few projects and building an organization that can perform consistently at a larger scale. That is something we are actively working on.

I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished so far, but I’m also very conscious that we are nowhere near where I want us to be. There is still a tremendous amount of work ahead of us and a lot that we need to improve and learn. I actually think recognizing that is important. The moment you believe you have everything figured out is probably when you stop growing.

For me, the goal is to keep learning, keep improving with every project, and build HDG the right way over time. I look at what we’ve accomplished so far as the foundation, not the finished product.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Hirsch Development Group started as a real estate investment and development company, and that continues to be at the core of what we do. We acquire properties, renovate existing homes, develop new construction, and invest in opportunities where we believe we can create long-term value.

Our primary focus has been residential real estate in South Florida, particularly in areas where we see an opportunity to create a better product and contribute to the evolution of the neighborhood. One project that represents that vision is The Estates at Skylake, a collection of four luxury homes that we are developing in the Skylake area of Miami-Dade.

But the vision for HDG goes beyond being a traditional real estate developer. We are gradually building a group of complementary businesses around the development process. Our involvement in companies like Bosko Home, which provides architectural doors, kitchens, closets, cabinetry and custom interior solutions, allows us to participate in different parts of the value chain while also building businesses that can stand independently.

I think what we want to do differently is be very intentional about how everything connects. Real estate gives us exposure to construction, design, finance, sales, and operations, and those experiences often lead us to identify opportunities for other businesses. Instead of looking at each opportunity in isolation, we try to understand how it can fit into the larger ecosystem we are building.

Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is that HDG is beginning to represent more than just a name on a development. I want it to represent the way we approach business: being hands-on, paying attention to the details, treating our partners and investors responsibly, and always looking for ways to improve the final product.

At the same time, I think it’s important to be transparent about where we are. We are still building. We have a lot to learn, a lot of systems to improve, and a long way to go before HDG becomes what I envision it can ultimately be. That’s actually one of the most exciting parts for me.

I want people who come across HDG today to understand that they are seeing the early stages of something we intend to build for many years. Our objective isn’t simply to do more projects; it’s to keep improving the quality of what we build, expand into businesses that make sense alongside what we already do, and create an organization with a reputation that will ultimately speak for itself.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I wouldn’t say there is one particular book, podcast, or app that I follow religiously. I try to learn from a combination of different sources, but probably my biggest resource has always been the people around me.

I’m naturally curious, so when I meet someone who understands something better than I do, I ask a lot of questions. Whether it’s construction, finance, real estate, design, or another business, I’ve learned a tremendous amount from partners, contractors, advisors, friends, and other entrepreneurs. I think being willing to listen and recognizing when someone knows more than you is extremely valuable.

Technology has also become a big part of how I work. I use tools like ChatGPT regularly to organize ideas, analyze information, challenge my thinking, and learn about subjects I may not fully understand yet. It doesn’t replace experience or good judgment, but it has made access to information incredibly efficient.

More than any specific resource, though, I think my best education has come from actually doing the work. Every project, every mistake, every negotiation, and every person I work with teaches me something. I try to stay curious and keep learning because the more experience I gain, the more I realize how much there still is to learn.
