Inspiring Conversations with Adrienne Sender of Siempre Verano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrienne Sender.

Hi Adrienne, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
As a corporate marketer by trade, I’ve always wanted to create a brand of my own. The pandemic gave me the push I needed to finally jump in, so during quarantine my husband and I started on the path to creating a beauty brand. (We call it our quarantine baby!).

We’re constantly in awe of the beauty we see every day here in Miami, so we aimed to transform those elements – the sunshine, beach life, tropical fruits, and an “always on vacation” vibe – into clean beauty products. We were also heavily inspired by the Latin American beauty rituals of the women in Jorge’s life and knew we wanted to highlight Latin American ingredients.

Merging Adrienne’s love of beauty with traditional ingredients from Jorge’s roots, the products are formulated with natural, tropical botanicals from Latin America that leave out problematic additives. Siempre Verano embodies everything we love about Miami, and we want users to live like it’s always summer through skincare and beauty products that provide that coveted summer glow all year long.

On the personal side, I am learning to juggle the daily demands of trying to build a successful brand by working full-time in corporate healthcare marketing and being a wife and mom of two young girls.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Of course not! As a newbie to the beauty industry, there was a large learning curve and I am still learning as I go. I’ve been fortunate to meet some amazing people along the way but I am still looking to find my tribe within the industry.

As a small business, there are many brands with bigger budgets, newer products, and expansive teams. which is hard to compete with (and brings on bouts of imposter syndrome!).

Things may not go as planned, and over the course of production, we had hiccups with components like labels and printed materials. Additionally, there are also issues resulting from the pandemic and recession like delays and rising costs to contend with.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Siempre Verano?
Inspired by the sun, sand, and vibrancy of Miami, Siempre Verano (meaning Always Summer) delivers luxury clean beauty through natural tropical antioxidants and oils for a summer glow all year long. We incorporate and highlight tropical and Latin American ingredients, which is surprisingly rare within the industry.

Our initial products are oil-based items that showcase our view on ingredients. Our Brightening Elixir is a vegan face oil that is lightweight and fast absorbing with a subtle citrus scent, and our Shimmer Oil is a lightweight, non-greasy body oil that leaves the most gorgeous shimmer while being super nourishing. Our products are clean and we very much care about the environmental impact of our packaging and sourcing.

Launching the brand has been our biggest accomplishment thus far. The past six months have been all about building brand awareness, which we’ve been doing through social media, influencer partnerships, and events. Our next steps are to grow the brand and we hope to debut more products in the skincare and color cosmetics segments.

In my dream world, we would become a global brand and expand through the Latin American market and Europe.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I think it takes a special mindset and determination to be an entrepreneur. It’s definitely not for everyone.

There are a lot of risks involved and it’s a 24/7 job. I think one of the most critical skills to have is a good work ethic, and there needs to be a passion for what you do.
