Hi silvana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been involved in business since 2002, when I started my journey in, MCC Maintenance cleaning company. Dealing with hash chemicals, which gave us a lot of health problems, client damage in their properties, I decided to start to study more about Eco-friendly alternative sources. I’m originally from Brazil. I found a great established Factory that works in the same proposition to save the environment, taking care of the employees, our clients, and also pets. That’s when we started a partnership with Industries Becker from Brazil. They manufacture Eco-friendly cleaning products with all approvals by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency ), FDA (Food and Drug Administration) licenses as requested. The initial process took me almost 3 years to have all the licenses required for this business. We started to operate in January 2024. Our warehouse carries all kinds of cleaning supplies for residential and commercial lines. Our products don’t damage any kind of surface. Don’t hurt our employees, clients, or pets. The formula is water-based, so you can dilute it easily. You can have some fragrances, but all we offer are natural ones as Bamboo, Floral, Rain Forest, Lemon Grass, Berries, Anise, and Passion Fruit. Everything else has no smell, which creates a safe environment. We offer an advanced Floor Finish line without fragrance to keep the schools, hospitals, and offices safe, as well as a Wet look finish. All the Eco-friendly products were designed to make it easy for all Cleaning companies or residential cleaners to be safe, healthy at the same time care about our Environment. It’s not an easy journey because you need to change bad habits. Not everybody does what they say. Everybody wants to be Green but still uses Clorox and other harsh chemicals. Those two initial years, we are offering free Classes for anyone who wants to turn this Key.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s not a smooth road at all. We have to face lots of challenges along the way. The most difficult one is to deal with all those big wholesalers who are used to selling harsh chemicals from big corporations. The competition is not fair at all. Another challenge is dealing with a Man market that really doesn’t care about small businesses operated by women, also from another country. Is fanny still alive these days. Believe it or not, it’s a challenge. Cash flow is another challenge. The economy is very difficult at the moment.
As you know, we’re big fans of MCC Supplies LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
MCC Supplies is almost 5 years but only 2 years. MCC Cleaning is 23 years old. We are family-oriented. In Brazil, we have a recycling company (Valora Brazil) located in São Paulo and Belo Horizonte, two strategic markets. We have environmental care running in our blood. Our kids, grandkids learn how to take care of the environment. We teach them to recycle since babies. They know well how to do it. I was a Principal in Brazil for 19 years. I have an Administration degree and a Pedagogic one. Both combined gave me a good skill to deal with people. I can teach you how to change your habits in an easy way because I really believe in change. People don’t know anything about chemicals. How dangerous and fatal it can be. How do you contaminate instead of clean? How are you harming our kids, pets by using those harsh chemicals? The big corporation they dont care. Everything is about money, results. Great advertising convinces consumers to spend money without showing the bad side of it. We are making a difference in it. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a big wholesale, yet that embraces our cause, but we are working a little by little to get it. We need a great advertisement to show who we are, what we offer, and how to change it..
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Another difficulty that we faced was believing in some helpers who didn’t deliver anything but took the money. At the moment, we are waiting to find a good Investor who will help us bring some relief to start a new phase. We had a mentor from the Women’s Small Business Administration who guided us at the beginning. The business is here; we have clients in Florida, Massachusetts, Belize, and Mexico. We are working hard to make it profitable.
