Today we’d like to introduce you to Sebastián Jaramillo.
Hi Sebastián, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born in Colombia, and I grew up very close to the personal care and beauty industries. My family has been in this world for three generations, so I was exposed early to how products are made, how brands are built, and how deeply personal care can affect people’s confidence and wellbeing.
But my path did not start inside a factory. I started in design and technology. Over nearly 20 years, I have worked across design, development, digital strategy, and product leadership. That combination shaped how I see opportunities: I am always looking for places where human needs, technology, and business models can come together to solve real problems.
Oeskn came from that intersection.
Skincare is a very personal category, but the way people receive guidance is often fragmented, inconsistent, and not always tailored to their needs. Many women are trying to understand their skin through social media, influencers, product reviews, blogs, and trial and error. On the other hand, skin professionals often have limited visibility into what happens after a consultation: whether patients follow the plan, how their skin evolves, which products they actually use, and what changes occur between visits.
That gap became the problem we wanted to solve.
We started building Oeskn as a skin intelligence platform to make expert skincare guidance more personalized, continuous, and accessible. Our consumer experience helps women better understand their skin and follow a plan that adapts as their needs evolve. But we also realized something important: as AI makes basic skincare information easier to access, trusted expert judgment becomes more valuable, not less. The future of skin health will come from combining professional expertise with better patient context, data-driven analysis, and continuous follow-up.
That insight led us to Oeskn Pro, designed for MedSpas and cosmetic dermatology clinics. Oeskn Pro helps specialists extend care beyond the consultation room, with better context, continuity, and visibility into each patient’s progress. It does not replace professional judgment. It gives professionals better information so they can make stronger decisions and build deeper relationships with their patients.
Today, our focus is on bringing this technology to the U.S. and across Latin America. Miami is especially meaningful because it sits at the intersection of both worlds: a strong beauty and wellness market, a gateway to the U.S., and a natural bridge to Latin America.
At this stage, my story is really about connecting the dots: a family legacy in beauty and personal care, a career in digital product, and a belief that technology can help raise the standard of skin health. We are now looking to work with forward-thinking MedSpas and cosmetic dermatology clinics that want to help shape the next chapter of personalized skin health.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely not been a smooth road.
As a founder, every week brings a different challenge. The biggest skill you develop is resilience. It is not really a question of whether challenges will come. They will. The real question is how much uncertainty, pressure, and discomfort you can endure while still moving forward.
I have faced almost every kind of challenge: a cofounder breakup, fundraising difficulties, slow progress, customer pushback, product complexity, and moments where the path forward was not obvious. Then add being a parent to that mix. I am a father of three children, ages 7, 4, and 2, so in some ways I decided to play the founder game on extreme mode.
But I also think that is what entrepreneurship is. Being a founder is not about avoiding suffering. It is deliberately choosing a difficult path because you have an almost irrational belief that the mission and what you are building can make a difference.
This is the hardest thing I have done in my life, and I genuinely love it. I love the craft of building: understanding people, solving problems, creating something from nothing, and pushing through the messy middle until the vision becomes real. I would rather be doing this than anything else.
We’ve been impressed with Oeskn, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Oeskn is a skin intelligence platform with two connected experiences.
Oeskn Consumer helps people understand their skin, follow a personalized skincare plan, track progress, and build better habits. It can work as a standalone experience, even if the person is not connected to a dermatologist, MedSpa, or skin expert.
Oeskn Pro is built for MedSpas and cosmetic dermatology clinics. It helps specialists manage the patient journey before and after visits, including onboarding, treatment plan approval, progress tracking, adherence visibility, and follow-up.
What makes Oeskn different is the intelligence layer behind the platform. We are building scientific and medical capabilities across dermatology, pharmaceutical chemistry, and biochemistry so our guidance can be more accurate, personalized, and trustworthy.
At the core, Oeskn is about trust. We want to help people make better skin health decisions and help clinics deliver a more connected, informed, and continuous experience for every patient.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The quality that has mattered most is courageous ownership.
For me, that means being willing to walk into uncertainty, make hard decisions, and take full responsibility for the outcome. It also means being honest about what is working, what is not working, and where I need to improve.
Building a company requires courage, but courage has to be paired with integrity, focus, and high standards. You have to choose what matters, say no to distractions, and keep showing up with your best work when things get difficult.
If I had to choose one characteristic, it would be that: the willingness to choose a meaningful path, carry its weight, and build something you can stand behind.
