Hidden Gems: Meet Sandra Llusa of PLAYTOWN MUSEUM

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandra Llusa.

Hi Sandra, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Sandra Llusa. I was born Brazilian, Spanish at heart, and American by choice and love.

I’ve lived in the United States for 22 years. I came here with my children when they were still very young, and like many immigrants, the beginning — and even the middle of the journey — was far from easy.

I went through many hardships, including an abusive marriage. I had to leave home with my small children, facing pain and struggles in a country that I still couldn’t call my own, without family and without money. But nothing stopped me from moving forward, because all I wanted was to give my children a better life.

I have always believed that the United States is the land of opportunity for those willing to work hard and embrace it. God’s plans are often very different from our own, and many times we only understand His purpose after we’ve gone through difficult moments and realize they were necessary to bring us where we are today.

I am deeply grateful to God, to my children, and to my husband, who helped me become the woman I always dreamed of being. I had the opportunity to become a business owner in the United States. I had the privilege of watching my children grow into extraordinary adults. And I had the support of a man my children now consider their father, because without him, we would not have achieved everything we dreamed of.

Today, having Playtown and being able to create happiness for children and families is my greatest purpose. Seeing smiles and hearing words of gratitude makes me forget all the hard work and exhaustion.

I have also been blessed with incredible women working alongside me — women truly willing to help, grow, and build this dream together. I owe them my deepest gratitude for all their dedication, care, and love.

And finally, thank you to every family who has walked through the doors of Playtown and trusted us to be part of your forever memories.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Like many immigrants, I faced many struggles along the way. I came to the United States over 22 years ago with my children still very young, searching for better opportunities and a safer future for them.

One of the hardest parts of my journey was going through an abusive marriage and having to rebuild my life from the ground up. There were moments when I had no family nearby, limited financial resources, and a lot of uncertainty about the future. Starting over in a country that still felt unfamiliar was emotionally and financially challenging.

As a mother, there were many sacrifices. I worked extremely hard while trying to provide stability, love, and opportunities for my children. Balancing motherhood, personal struggles, and entrepreneurship was never easy, and there were many moments of exhaustion and doubt.

Building my business also came with challenges. As a woman, immigrant, and entrepreneur, I had to learn everything through experience, persistence, and resilience. There were times when I questioned myself, but I never gave up because I believed in creating a better life for my family and in the opportunities this country offers to those willing to work hard.

Looking back, every difficult moment helped shape the person and business owner I am today. Those struggles taught me strength, gratitude, compassion, and the importance of creating joyful memories for other families through Playtown.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Playtown Museum is an indoor children’s play space and private party venue created with one main purpose: to create unforgettable memories for families. We specialize in luxury children’s parties, beautifully designed themed celebrations, and a safe, imaginative environment where children can truly enjoy being kids while parents can actually relax and enjoy the experience as well.

What makes Playtown different is that we focus not only on the children, but also on the parents — especially busy moms. We understand how overwhelming planning a birthday party can be, so we created an experience that combines fun, creativity, organization, and convenience all in one place. From exclusive themed decorations and custom setups to personalized service and attention to detail, we try to make every family feel special.

We are known for our unique party designs, warm atmosphere, and the emotional experience we create for families. Our goal is not simply to host parties, but to create moments that parents and children will remember forever. Seeing children excited and parents stress-free is what motivates us every day.

As an immigrant woman and business owner, I am especially proud of the community and relationships we have built through Playtown. Over the years, we have welcomed thousands of families and created a space where people feel happy, celebrated, and cared for. I am also incredibly proud of the team behind Playtown — amazing women who work with love, dedication, and genuine care for every event and every child who walks through our doors.

Brand-wise, I am most proud that Playtown has become more than just a business. It has become a place connected to joy, family, celebrations, and meaningful memories. Every detail of our brand reflects warmth, creativity, hospitality, and love.

I want readers to know that Playtown was built from resilience, passion, and a genuine desire to make families happy. For us, every celebration matters because we understand how important these moments become in people’s lives years later.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I believe resilience has been the most important quality in my success. Life and business have both brought many challenges, but I never allowed difficult moments to define my future. No matter how hard things became personally or professionally, I always continued moving forward with faith, determination, and the belief that better opportunities were ahead.

Another characteristic that has been essential is empathy. As a mother and business owner, I genuinely care about people and the experiences they have with my business. I understand the importance of family moments, celebrations, and creating memories, which is why I put so much heart into everything we do at Playtown.

I also believe adaptability has played a huge role in my journey. Being an immigrant taught me how to reinvent myself, learn quickly, and grow through every experience. Entrepreneurship constantly requires creativity, flexibility, and the ability to keep evolving.

Most importantly, I never lost my passion for what I do. I truly love creating joyful experiences for families, and I think people can feel that authenticity when they walk into Playtown.
