Hidden Gems: Meet Patricia Gonzalez of Eterna Café

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patricia Gonzalez.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story without noticing started when I was 17. I took my first job in the first job that accepted me that happened to had been walking distance from my parents house where I lived at the time. It choose this job purely for convenience and because of their flexibility. Found myself working for 7-8$ an hour and was having the time of my life. I was at one of the largest franchise coffee shop companies. Ultimately after covid I needed more stability and to pay for my career at MDC so I took on a different job as a cashier where I then transitioned to customer service where I was selling lotto tickets and COFFEE, can’t be a coincidence right? Followed by another job where coffee was served to my most recent job where I served from 50-100 cups of coffee a day. I finished my bachelors in business admin back in 2024 and although I knew I wanted my own business I never knew where I could fit in nor what I loved to do since I never had free time during my 4 years studying since I was working 40 hours or more sometimes alongside my full time jobs and study time! I felt lost and I tried all the digital products and digital selling and digital EVERYTHING. I was miserable trying to learn something I simply did not love to do. I would sit by the pool with my fiancé and we would brainstorm on business ideas, from vending machines to restaurant, to selling cloth, to content creation. None of the ideas we would come up with had me talking for more than a minute. My parents always told me “Cuando tu pares de buscar, es cuando lo vas a ver” and God were they right. A time came that I stopped thinking about where I WILL belong but where I AM present right now. I didn’t think anymore about what business I could open and started realizing the one thing I loved doing was right in front of me for so long. I loved making coffee! I knew I couldn’t afford a brick and mortar but I also knew I loved moving place to place either way so a mobile coffee bar was my place and where I belonged. I did little to zero research on the market or if it was even something that was sellable. I quite literally jumped to it bought all of the best equipment and said a prayer. 2 active months into my business I am the happiest I’ve ever been in my life. I feel aligned and blessed to have this opportunity to create something I love. I get to served coffee at all types of events, bridal showers, weddings, office parties! I get to enjoy other people’s happiest moments while I live mine as well!!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road, I had to learn so many things along the way. The coffee cart needed direct plumbing so we had to learn plumbing. For the coffee cart people would quote us insane amounts of money and when I would go see them they were made with the worst material ever, so we had to learn some carpentry and rent so many tools to make the coffee cart come to life. We got to build it to the exact measures we wanted but learning how to use half those tools was a degree itself. After months of making the cart during our only free time (weekends) we were ready to paint it which took us another month. Learning about all the city permits and all the legal parts of the business was also something I was not aware of and took some time to figure out. It was not only serving coffee but building something bigger than that! I definitely learned a couple new skills along the way! I also learned that when there is desire to move forward you will always find the time to make the dream happen!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business is a mobile coffee bar. We cater to private events (all type of celebrations and reunions) where coffee is needed. We bring the best service and attention to the customer across the market. I specialize in uniquely curated espresso drink recipes! People love our Dulce Cloud Latte which is Dulce de leche ice latte with vanilla cold foam topped with crumbled cookie and a merengue. I make everything thoughtfully and with so much love. The meaning behind “Eterna Cafe” is the idea that coffee is ETERNAL. For as long as coffee exists, the actual product itself almost does not change, only the trends, the flavors, maybe the different regions. Yet the idea of coffee, the actual coffee beans and the connection it creates between people will forever be the same. Coffee beans can be roasted and made into an infinite number of coffee styles and flavors, making it a true eternal piece in time.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I definitely plan to scale Eterna Cafe. I plan to bring coffee bars all over the world. Brick and mortar is so expensive and inaccessible to the majority. Coffee experiences should be accessible to all businesses. You will see coffee bars in places you didn’t know they belonged. Coffee is the ultimate amenity for all businesses especially since it’s an experience, a connection on a world where human connection is becoming more and more scarce.
