Hi Mindy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When I first arrived in the United States from South Korea, all I had was a suitcase and a heart full of hope. I didn’t have money, education, or even the ability to speak English. Life seemed daunting, but I was determined to find my way. Without knowing where to start, I was not really good at anything but one thing i knew was i was good with my hands. I began searching for any job that would allow me to make ends meet.
After achieved my esthetic license, I found work at a spa offering facials through Groupon. The pay was minimal, and the clients often came expecting heavily discounted services, but I was grateful for the opportunity. Though my English was still rough, I was able to communicate through my skills and my dedication to helping others feel better about their skin.
This work brought back memories of my own struggles with terrible genetic acne. Growing up, I battled with low self-esteem due to my skin, and I knew firsthand how devastating it could be. I realized that many of the clients coming into the spa were experiencing the same pain I once felt. I started focusing on helping people with severe skin issues, sharing the knowledge I had gained through my own experiences and the training I picked up along the way.
With every face I touched, I felt my confidence grow, and my passion for skincare deepened. I wanted to offer more than just temporary solutions; I wanted to transform people’s lives the way I had transformed my own. That’s when I knew I had to pursue my dream of opening my own skincare business.
It wasn’t easy. I worked long hours at the spa, saved every penny, and spent my nights learning English and researching skin treatments. I studied tirelessly, seeking out the best methods and ingredients to address the root causes of acne and other skin problems. Discipline became my greatest ally. Every day, I told myself that the struggle was temporary, that I was building something bigger for the future.
After years of hard work, sacrifices, and countless challenges, my dream finally became a reality. I opened my own skincare clinic in the heart of Miami, a place where people with the same struggles I once had could find solutions, hope, and healing. My business grew as word spread about the life-changing treatments I offered. Thousands of people came through my doors, and every success story felt like a personal victory.
Today, my clinic is thriving, and I am proud to say that I have helped thousands of people regain their confidence and transform their skin. What began as a desperate journey with nothing but a suitcase has turned into a thriving business built on passion, discipline, and the desire to help others.
The path was not easy, but I’m living proof that with determination, anyone can turn their dreams into reality—even if they start with nothing.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Throughout my journey, I faced countless challenges and obstacles that tested my resilience. One of the toughest moments came when I had to fins a new store to run my business after be kicked out of my previous location just as the COVID-19 pandemic hit. The uncertainty and financial strain were overwhelming, and like many small business owners, I feared the worst. Navigating the pandemic was a massive hurdle—clients stopped coming, and I had to adapt quickly to survive. Hiring the right people became another challenge; I went through several cycles of hiring and firing, trying to find team members who shared my vision and dedication to quality care. Each setback felt like a personal failure, but I kept pushing forward, knowing that this was part of the process. Every obstacle made me stronger, sharpening my business acumen and deepening my commitment to helping others.

I specialize in acne and aging. I had mastered Korean-style extraction, a highly effective and special extraction technique that doesn’t leave scars. Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned from my journey is that having a clear purpose is vital. It’s not just about personal success or financial gain; it’s about being part of something bigger than myself. Finding my purpose—helping others heal their skin and regain their confidence—has given my work deeper meaning and fulfillment. I realized that true happiness comes from seeing the positive impact I can have on other people’s lives. Knowing that my business helps thousands overcome the same struggles I once faced fills me with joy and purpose every day. That sense of belonging to a larger mission, of giving back, has become my ultimate source of happiness.
