Hidden Gems: Meet Michelle Dempsey-Multack of Moms Moving On

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Dempsey-Multack.

Hi Michelle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After getting divorced with a two-year-old in tow almost 5 years ago, I realized how little support there was out there for young moms going through one of the toughest and scariest times of their lives. I decided to use my platform to share my own stories of divorce and co-parenting, in hopes that I could share what I had learned to help others going through it.

Over the last few years, and through my writing for different motherhood publications, my Moms Moving On podcast, and as a Certified Divorce Specialist, I’ve been able to connect with moms all over the world to help make their journey through divorce and co-parenting a little bit easier. My first book, Moms Moving On: Real Life Advice for Conquering Divorce, Co-Parenting Through Conflict, and Becoming Your Best Self will be released in early 2022 from Simon and Schuster.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course not – divorce and co-parenting are no easy feat and I’ve yet to come across an individual who disagrees. Divorce, even in the most amicable of circumstances, is a major life change, and co-parenting, again, even in the most amicable of circumstances, will also rock your world as you adjust. What I’ve learned, though, is that there are so many ways to make your life easier during this process. Having a therapist and a good coach are two invaluable resources that will help you navigate the journey. Also, shifting your perspective from “why me?” to “what now” is a lifesaver. It’s all a learning and growing process if you do it right.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Moms Moving On?
The Moms Moving On brand encompasses a coaching community for moms going through divorce and co-parenting, a top-100 podcast by the same name, and in just few months, a book entitled Moms Moving On: Real Life Advice for Conquering Divorce, Co-Parenting Through Conflict, and Becoming Your Best Self. What I’m most proud of is how many moms the podcast has been able to reach in such a short period of time. Since it’s first episode in early 2020, the Moms Moving On podcast has almost 350k downloads, has spent weeks in the top-100 in the self-improvement podcast category, and has connected women from all walks of life. Through the incredible podcast guests we interview like Dr. Shefali, celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser, and various celebrities, I find that I continue to learn and grow along with my followers and listeners. Also, the Moms Moving On coaching programs have been some of the most rewarding work I’ve ever done. Through my individual and group coaching programs, my clients have formed lifelong friendships and found the support they never knew they always needed.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My mom deserves all the credit in the world for setting the example of what it means to take the high road in divorce and through a very challenging co-parenting situation. My daughter is the reason why I have committed to bettering myself and helping others as my missing in life, and my grandmother is my biggest cheerleader and best friend. I am grateful to have a supportive and loving husband who I married two years ago. I would consider Jennie Nash, my book coach, and Susan Guthrie, a top-US divorce attorney and mediator my mentors and favorite people professionally.
