Hi Melissa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all started 2 years ago when I decided to be an entrepreneur and make chocolate. It really started when I was a child and my deep love for chocolate. When I had the honor to enjoy the raw Cacao bean for the first time it inspired me to create healthy chocolate. Which I realized was hard to find and a rare item in most stores, including the farmers market I was working in. In that moment, the passion for Balam Wellness was created. Furthermore, after seeking out the purest ingredients and making the disks from premade Cacao mass I decided to take more responsibility in the process by creating my own mass..which adds a big step to the process but it also guarantees higher purity.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like in all struggles in life, they lead to the results we want. This has been no different. The balance between having your own business and maintaining your bills/other job goes with balancing your time and energy. As long as you’re moving towards your goals efficiently and the vision of your business you’re moving in the right direction.

We love health and chocolate! We create organic hand made, small batch, dark chocolate sweetened with raw honey from local beekeepers. Our mission is to help people create healthy lifestyles for them and their families. What separates Balam Wellness from others is that we apply the same health principles to all aspects of life and is a reflection in our chocolate. We are proud to create chocolate that changes one’s perspective on healthy chocolate (which can also be shaved, mixed with hot water or milk and made into hot cacao.) Right now we offer 2 flavors, a mushroom blend, and aphrodisiac/hormone balancing blend, both are organic, free of dairy, processed sugars, and preservatives. We have them available at Brothers Farmers Market in Davie, and in Brothers Farmers Market in Hollywood, also at the Zen Bar which is in Marando Ranch in Davie. Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I’ve had a lot of support from my family, manager at work, coworkers, friends, and my beloved partner. They have all spread the word about our chocolate and have shared it with friends and loved ones.
