Hidden Gems: Meet Maykel Fournier of Altesse LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maykel Fournier.

Hi Maykel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Maykel Fournier and I am the founder of Altesse LLC.
Altesse was born from a simple frustration: watching how, in the insurance industry, many people were treated like policy numbers instead of lives, dreams and projects that deserve real respect.

I started from the very bottom as an independent agent, doing a bit of everything—answering calls, quoting, explaining coverages, and fighting for better terms for my clients. Over time I realized I didn’t want to be “just another agency.” I wanted to build a brand with a soul, with an identity strong enough to communicate trust even before people met me in person.

That’s where the name Altesse came from, a word associated with royalty and elevation. To me, Altesse means raising the standard of what a client can expect from an insurance agency. From that vision our slogan was born: “Your Highest Standard.” It’s not just a nice phrase; it’s an internal promise. Every decision—from the carriers we work with to how we answer a simple text message—has to live up to that highest standard.

Branding has been one of the most intense parts of the journey: the lion as a symbol of protection and leadership, the color palette, the typography, the website experience, even the way we present a quote or a digital business card. Nothing is random. Behind that “luxury” look there are many late nights, investments, adjustments and experiments, always with one idea in mind: that our clients feel they are entering a space where their peace of mind is treated like a true luxury, not just another transaction.

Today, Altesse is the result of that mix of discipline, vision and faith: an agency determined to prove that aesthetic excellence, human service and real results can live together, so every client feels that their story and their assets are being protected under their highest standard.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road.
Altesse was born without big investors behind it, without a famous last name in the industry, and right in the middle of one of the most complex insurance markets in the country: Florida. That means learning to navigate regulations, constant changes, underwriting requirements and, at the same time, going out every day to sell, build relationships and earn trust almost from scratch.
One of the biggest challenges has been maintaining a very high brand standard while still being a small agency. Choosing strong branding, a luxury look and feel, and a “high standard” message when you don’t yet have unlimited resources means many sleepless nights, hard decisions, and saying “no” to shortcuts that could bring quick money but don’t align with our vision of “Your Highest Standard.”
There have also been very human obstacles: moments of doubt, doors that closed, carriers that didn’t believe in a new agency at first, and the pressure to prove that a young brand can deliver service as serious and structured as the big players. But those challenges became our filter: they forced us to be more disciplined, more creative, and to prove with actions that Altesse is not just a beautiful image—it is the result of a lot of quiet hard work behind every detail.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Altesse LLC?
Altesse LLC is an independent insurance agency based in Miami that was created with a very clear idea: to turn protection into a high-level experience. We don’t just sell policies; we help our clients design a protection strategy around their lives, families and businesses.

We work both personal and commercial lines, including personal and commercial auto, general liability, workers’ compensation, commercial property, bonds, health and life insurance, among others. Our role is to act as a “curator” of solutions: we study each case and search across multiple carriers to find the right balance of coverage, limits and pricing that truly reflects the standard we promise.

What sets us apart is our brand philosophy: “Your Highest Standard.” You can see it in everything we do—from our visual identity and the way we present a quote, to our clear, honest communication and the time we invest in educating clients so they actually understand what they’re buying. We want every person who interacts with Altesse to feel they are being treated at the level of a luxury brand, with the warmth and closeness of a neighborhood office.

What I’m most proud of is that our image and our reality match: behind the lion, the colors and the branding there are countless hours of study, negotiations and real service. Altesse is an invitation for clients to discover that it is possible to have solid protection, a refined aesthetic experience and deeply human treatment.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I do believe in luck, but not as something magical that decides everything. For me, in the words of the Roman philosopher Seneca, “luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.” That idea perfectly describes my life and Altesse’s journey.

I’ve gone through moments that felt like pure bad luck—losses, closed doors, unexpected changes that forced me to start over. Over time I realized many of those experiences pushed me to prepare better, study more and sharpen my character and vision until I was ready to build Altesse.

In business, luck can open a door, but it doesn’t keep it open. I’ve been fortunate to meet key people and clients at just the right time, but what I’ve really learned is that real “good luck” is being ready when those opportunities appear and holding your standard even when no one is watching.

In the end, my relationship with luck is simple: I don’t wait for luck to fix my life; I work every day so that when it shows up, it finds me prepared.
