Hidden Gems: Meet Maira Marin Villegas of NV Nails Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maira Marin Villegas.

Hi Maira, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Remembering myself as a little girl cleaning my Dads nails and painting my mom friends’ nails, having a ingrown toenail surgery when I was 13years old, promising myself I would learn how to do nails correctly because I will never want to past through this painful process again, moving to Florida in 2002 with my mom and two of my sisters, started to work right away at the age of 16years old at restaurants and factories, then went to nails school when I was living with my husband and my oldest daughter! One day one lady (Ms Letty) was my substitute teacher and she see me and say my girl you will go far because you are great at what you doing, I finish my school take my license years after that same lady training me to be a Nails instructor on the same school, after that I started my career as a Cuccio nails instructor thanks to the opportunity the director of the company (Marilyn Garcia) by this moment I don’t think I have much further to go until 2024 my husband give me the opportunity to open a studio I was the happiest person! With a lot of fear and nervousness but with a lot of faith .

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I believe in many ways I’m my biggest obstacle, I’m my biggest challenge, I’m my biggest competition! I know my first language is not English I need to make sure people understand me or I could be the obstacle, I know I’m not perfect I need to make sure I practice more to get better every single time if not I feel as an obstacle on my career and I don’t grow! If I know my client leave my place happy I’ll always make sure next clients are more satisfied otherwise I’m going to be the same always and I need to make sure I’m doing better every single time continue learning is a challenge if you think you know everything you never grow and we continuously change in this career!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about NV Nails Studio ?
NV Nails Studio was my dream work place is the nails studio where people can come and relax, you can feel comfortable, a clean place, a technician that can explain to you all the process that you doing on your self, a person that is always open to answer all of your questions with honesty to say I’m not going to do that because I’m not here for your money I’m here to take care of you! I created my place a place where you come and feel you don’t want to go! We talk, we laugh, we cry we make plans, I created a place that when I do my nails to my clients I can teach them the phrase one of my client taught me! Her phone was ringing and I ask do you like me to pass your phone and she responds not I’m busy with my self !!!! Then another client said not I don’t need to look at my phone I’m on my nails therapist!!!!

What’s next?
I see myself with a bigger place in a future but I will never stop teaching nails I love to see the look on a person’s face when they learn something that they love, in the same way I’m always going to try to learn something new and try to better myself!
