Hidden Gems: Meet Laura Cardona of Poetic Energy Massage & Aromatherapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Cardona.

Laura Cardona

Laura, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Massage therapy for me began by experiencing burnout firsthand. After struggling with some health issues within my family specifically with one of my children I developed an enormous amount of mom guilt. This led to sleepless nights that eventually put me on high alert and my body became exhausted. The volume in my mind was so loud and I could not seem to turn it down.

Within a short amount of time the high levels of stress manifested in my body and I was in a lot of pain. Grinding my teeth led to headaches during the day. Soon I was experiencing stiffness in my body, fatigue, and was in a bad mood often. With juggling an overwhelming amount of stress at home and at the office burnout was inevitable.

Today, I am the owner and founder of Poetic Energy Massage & Aromatherapy, where clinical massage meets relaxation and tranquility. I primarily cater to women on their motherhood journey whether it be in their prenatal or postpartum season or deep into motherhood with adult children.

However, ALL women and their partners are welcome. I aim to replenish depleted energy, reduce muscular pain, and help restore the mind-body connection with massage, cupping therapy, and aromatherapy modalities. I have since serviced many women and their families, pouring some positive energy back into their lives one massage at a time.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Let’s just say entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. The simple act of believing in your dream despite what can seem like so much opposition can be very challenging. Some struggles I have faced include time management. Juggling your regular job, plus family, and your own business can be tricky. Sometimes you don’t know how else you are going to divide yourself, let alone when you will get your eight hours of sleep. What can I say? It’s a beautiful struggle to build the life you want.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Poetic Energy Massage & Aromatherapy specializes in clinical massage, professional aromatherapy, and cupping therapy primarily catering to women from all walks of life on their motherhood journey. Whether it be in their prenatal or postpartum season or deep into motherhood with adult children I strive to improve their physical functionality and levels of stress by combining massage, cupping therapy, and aromatherapy.

By helping reduce muscular pain, tension headaches, and improve their range of motion mamas will function better, therefore they will feel better, and if they feel better chances are everyone in the household will feel the positive effects.

I am mostly known for using cupping therapy with my prenatal and postpartum clients. Cupping is a big part of my massage style and I especially love to see how it helps alleviate the pain and discomfort associated with pregnancy and infant care. My private practice is not exclusively for mamas, but for ALL women and their partners in any stage of life they may be in. Massage is a big factor in preventive care, whether you need it for sports recovery or because you are a caregiver. All are welcome.

Poetic Energy Massage is here to celebrate ALL of your wins, no matter how big or small. Allowing me to take part in your wellness journey and witness your progress is truly an honor. Each session is customized to your specific needs and is curated with compassion, kindness, and a little humor here and there. I look forward to our first session together!

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
A lot of people are shocked when they find out that my background was corporate and that massage (although it is my true passion) is actually my second career. Having experienced burnout was a turning point in my life in where I was catapulted into a new beginning to my story, a healthier one.
