Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Where was the beginning? It’s difficult to say! I have always loved creation, arts, marketing, and growing a brand into a successful business.

As a kid, I watched my father build his own business and recreate it each time we moved. It’s a beautiful thing to work for your own passions and dreams!

I think Bhavii Brides was something I prepared a long time for and slowly molded it into what it is today with the help of my business partner Preya and her ethic in business and the arts.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road to business success isn’t linear and sometimes doesn’t look like the success you thought it would. There is a struggle in always working, but there is also beauty in the freedom that running a business and having a reliable team allows. Yes, sometimes I work on Sundays, but I’m not working on Monday, and the beach is empty!

I think that within wedding and bridal work, one of our toughest challenges is the high stakes. The pressure is on! There is one day to do it, and it had better be done right. So, our business is run fairly black and white; there is no room for much error or slack. We are here to deliver. Even if the schedule is running behind or the photographer hasn’t arrived, we are here to make this special day as much of a breeze for the family as possible.

Sometimes, that means we put in more work than anticipated, but that’s the name of the game. We are blessed to be a part of these special moments in people’s lives, and with that comes a responsibility to them and their moment.

Thanks for sharing that. Maybe you can tell us a bit more about your business next.
Preya and I opened Bhavii Brides to fill a need in the wedding community in South Florida. While working in the bridal industry sporadically for others, we saw there were many destination weddings and local brides in need of very specific bridal beauty sessions.

These are things that many people who are not well-versed in Eastern wedding traditions may not know how to deliver. Since we were well versed and hungry to learn more, we created Bhavii Brides to offer all the bridal beauty needs from Eastern to Western traditions. And fusion weddings are our favorite!

Our services include hair and makeup, while also offering a specialization in Saree Draping from the many regions on India and Bangladesh. We offer henna art for the family, at the reception, as well as bridal mehndi. Quick tie turbans for the men, and help with steaming your gowns, tuxedos, or suits.

These beauty services we specialize in are highly honored and special traditions that we feel extremely blessed to be a part of. We learn every day as these traditions are passed down and meshed with modern additions. To be witness to such love every time we go to ‘work’ is a major win!

What matters most to you?
I have found it very important to bridge the gap and bring education to those unaware of Eastern traditions. I wish to allow them to respect and hold witness to the magic that is this knowledge passed down from generation to generation.

Knowledge and love passed down from beyond the 1300s. These traditions are bathed in a dense and rich history – awareness of that is just the beginning. As you open up the world of Eastern weddings and traditions, we can learn so much about our world ourselves and those around us. I am so happy to spread this joy and knowledge while continually learning and keeping these traditions alive!
