Today we’d like to introduce you to Harry Jean-Baptiste.
Hi Harry, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a first-generation Haitian-American entrepreneur, real estate consultant, and community advocate based in Houston, Texas. My journey into real estate started long before I earned my license. Since I was 12 years old, I was fascinated by real estate and dreamed of becoming an agent. However, growing up, I didn’t view it as a “real” career path and instead pursued more traditional opportunities after college.
My perspective changed when I accepted my first professional job as an insurance agent. Shortly after starting, the company downsized, forcing me to reevaluate my future. That experience became a turning point in my life. Rather than searching for another job, I decided to pursue the dream I had carried since childhood and build a career in real estate.
The early years were not easy. I drove Uber for nearly two years while working to grow my business and establish myself in a highly competitive industry. Through perseverance, continuous learning, and a commitment to serving others, I was able to build a successful real estate career helping families achieve homeownership and create generational wealth.
Today, I serve clients across Texas, lead community education initiatives focused on financial literacy and homeownership, and actively support the Haitian community through outreach, mentorship, and professional organizations. I was honored to be nominated for Haitian Realtor of the Year by the Haitian Real Estate Professionals Association, a recognition that reflects both my professional achievements and dedication to service.
Looking back, my journey has taught me that success often comes from betting on yourself and having the courage to pursue a dream others may not fully understand. My mission today is to help others create opportunities, build wealth, and leave a lasting legacy for future generations.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has not been a smooth road. I’ve wanted to become a real estate agent since I was 12 years old, but growing up I didn’t believe it was a realistic career path. After college, I accepted a job as an insurance agent, but when the company downsized and I lost my position, I decided it was time to pursue the dream I had carried since childhood.
Along the way, I faced several setbacks. One of the biggest was my attempt to expand my career to Miami. I moved there with high hopes and a strong vision for my future, but the transition was not successful. The market was highly competitive, I lacked an established network, and the challenges proved greater than I anticipated. The experience taught me valuable lessons about preparation, adaptability, and perseverance.
After returning to Texas, I had to rebuild from the ground up. To support myself while growing my real estate business, I drove Uber for nearly two years. During that time, I learned how to manage uncertainty, stay disciplined, and continue working toward my goals even when progress felt slow. There were many moments when deals fell through and success seemed out of reach, but I remained committed to my vision.
Those challenges ultimately shaped the professional I am today. They taught me resilience, humility, and the importance of persistence. Every obstacle became an opportunity to grow, and those experiences now help me better serve my clients and inspire others who are pursuing their own goals despite setbacks.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a Real Estate Consultant with Real Broker, LLC, helping individuals and families build wealth through homeownership and real estate investment across Texas. I specialize in residential real estate, first-time homebuyers, investment properties, and relocation services, with a strong focus on serving multicultural communities throughout Houston and beyond.
What sets me apart is my commitment to education, advocacy, and community engagement. I don’t just help clients buy and sell homes—I help them understand the process, connect with trusted professionals, and make informed financial decisions that create long-term opportunities.
As a bilingual Realtor who speaks both English and Haitian Creole, I am passionate about increasing access to homeownership and financial literacy within the Haitian and Caribbean communities. Through seminars, workshops, community events, and media platforms such as Koze Kay, I work to bridge the information gap and empower families to build generational wealth through real estate.
One thing I am especially proud of is my journey. I always wanted to become a real estate agent since I was 12 years old, but I didn’t think it was a realistic career path. After college, I got my first job as an insurance agent, but when the company downsized, I decided to pursue real estate full-time. Along the way, I attempted to expand my career in Miami, but the venture was unsuccessful. That experience taught me resilience, and after returning to Texas and working through difficult times, I built the business I have today.
My mission is simple: help people make smart real estate decisions, achieve homeownership, and create lasting wealth for future generations.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
For real estate, I see the industry becoming more technology-driven, data-focused, and relationship-centered over the next 5–10 years. Artificial intelligence and automation will handle many routine tasks such as lead qualification, marketing, and transaction management, allowing agents to spend more time advising clients and negotiating deals. Consumers will continue to expect faster responses, virtual tours, digital closings, and a seamless online experience.
I also believe affordability will remain a major challenge, leading to increased demand for alternative ownership models, down payment assistance programs, leasehold/ground rent programs, and build-to-rent communities. In markets like Houston, continued population growth and job creation should support long-term housing demand.
While technology will change how transactions are conducted, trusted advisors who provide local expertise, market knowledge, and strong client relationships will remain essential. The most successful professionals will be those who embrace innovation while maintaining a high level of personal service and community engagement.
