Today we’d like to introduce you to Hakim Taylor.
Hi Hakim, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey has always been built around discipline, service, growth, and the pursuit of becoming better.
I began my career in law enforcement in 2013. That profession taught me lessons that would shape nearly every part of my life: accountability, consistency, leadership, preparation, resilience, and the importance of being ready both mentally and physically.
At the same time, fitness was becoming one of the most important parts of who I was.
More than 12 years ago, I began training with a simple goal—to improve myself. What started as a commitment to building a stronger body eventually became something much greater. The gym became the place where I could challenge myself, clear my mind, develop discipline, and continuously work toward becoming a better version of myself.
Fitness became my haven.
Over the years, I dedicated myself to learning different styles of training, including hypertrophy, strength training, muscular endurance, conditioning, and overall athletic performance. Through years of studying, experimenting, succeeding, failing, and adjusting, I learned that real progress is rarely accidental.
It comes from having a plan.
It comes from consistency.
It comes from discipline.
And most importantly, it comes from continuing to show up when motivation disappears.
As my physique, knowledge, and performance improved, people began coming to me for advice about training, nutrition, discipline, and motivation. I realized that the lessons I had learned throughout my own journey could help other people avoid many of the mistakes I made early on and reach their own goals more efficiently.
But my journey was never only about building muscle.
Fitness became a place of stability during difficult moments. It became an outlet when life became stressful, a source of confidence when things did not go according to plan, and a constant reminder that progress is possible when you remain committed to the process.
That idea eventually became the foundation of TAYHVN ATHLETIC.
Together, TAYHVN represents the place I found through fitness where discipline, comfort, growth, strength, and transformation could exist together.
But TAYHVN was never meant to represent only my haven.
The larger vision is to create something that other people can identify with as well.
For some people, their haven may be a weight room.
For others, it may be a jiu-jitsu mat, a basketball court, a track, a training facility, or simply the commitment they have made to becoming better than they were yesterday.
TAYHVN represents that place.
It represents the environment where distractions disappear and the work begins.
It represents the hours nobody sees.
The early mornings.
The late nights.
The setbacks.
The repetitions.
The discipline required to continue when progress feels slow.
And the confidence that comes from knowing you earned your transformation.
Throughout my journey, fitness has also created opportunities for me to work with and represent multiple brands as a featured athlete. Those experiences showed me how powerful authenticity, consistency, and personal branding can become when they are backed by a genuine story.
Today, I balance my career in law enforcement with entrepreneurship, fitness, coaching, athletics, content creation, and the continued development of TAYHVN ATHLETIC.
Every part of that journey has helped shape what TAYHVN represents.
The clothing is where that mindset becomes something you can wear.
TAYHVN ATHLETIC was created to combine performance, confidence, comfort, and modern style into apparel made for people who take their development seriously. Whether you’re lifting, competing, training jiu-jitsu, running, playing a sport, recovering, or simply moving through everyday life, TAYHVN is designed to become part of that lifestyle.
I don’t want TAYHVN clothing to be something you only put on for a workout. I want it to be something you feel confident wearing before the training starts, while the work is being done, and long after you leave the gym.
Every collection should reflect the balance that defines the brand—built for performance, designed for lifestyle.
From performance apparel and compression wear to oversized pieces, matching sets, combat-sports gear, and everyday essentials, the goal is to create clothing that feels purposeful. The details, fit, materials, and design should represent the same standards of discipline and progression that created TAYHVN in the first place.
Because what you wear can become part of how you show up.
It can become part of your confidence.
Part of your identity.
And a reminder of the standard you have set for yourself.
TAYHVN isn’t clothing made simply to display a name. It’s clothing created to represent a mindset.
It is more than athletic apparel.
It is more than fitness.
It is a performance and lifestyle brand built around the mindset that your greatest transformation happens in the place where you are willing to put in the work.
My goal is to grow TAYHVN ATHLETIC into a globally recognized brand representing performance, discipline, resilience, confidence, and personal transformation.
I want someone wearing TAYHVN to feel like they are representing more than a logo.
They are representing their commitment.
Their discipline.
Their journey.
Their haven.
I am still building, learning, competing, training, and evolving. TAYHVN will continue evolving with me.
Because this story has never simply been about fitness.
It is about becoming the person you know you are capable of becoming.
It is about finding the place where you can build that person.
And once you find that place—
you protect it.
you build within it.
you grow within it.
You find your haven.
My goal is to continue growing Trust In Taylor into a globally recognized fitness and personal-development brand while showing others that discipline, consistency, and belief in yourself can completely transform your life.
I am still building, learning, and evolving, but I am proud of how far I have come. My story is not simply about fitness or business—it is about becoming the person I knew I was capable of becoming and helping others do the same.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Like most meaningful journeys, mine has included setbacks, sacrifices, uncertainty, and a great deal of trial and error.
In 2021, I suffered a complete Achilles tendon tear, which challenged me physically and mentally. I had to rebuild my strength, confidence, and patience from the ground up. That experience taught me that true strength is not only about performance—it is also about how you respond when everything slows down.
I also faced disappointment when the first company I pursued a sponsorship with made promises but ultimately turned me down. Although it was discouraging, I refused to let one rejection define my value. I continued building my platform, and that persistence eventually led to opportunities as a featured athlete for multiple brands.
Along the way, some personal relationships changed as my goals, priorities, and level of commitment evolved. While those transitions were difficult, they taught me the importance of surrounding myself with people who respect my vision and understand the sacrifices required for continued growth.
Each setback strengthened me. The injury taught me patience, the rejection taught me persistence, and the loss of relationships taught me to protect my purpose.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about TAYHVN?
TAYHVN ATHLETIC is a performance and lifestyle fitness brand built around the belief that fitness can be more than a workout—it can be your haven.
The name represents the place I have found through fitness: a source of comfort, discipline, confidence, growth, and transformation.
TAYHVN specializes in athletic apparel and fitness-focused products designed for people who take their training seriously while also seeing fitness as part of their identity and lifestyle. The goal is to create a brand that can live in the gym, in combat sports, and in everyday life.
What sets TAYHVN apart is the story and purpose behind it. I’m not trying to build another fitness company that simply puts a logo on clothing. I’m building a community and identity around the idea that everyone deserves to find something that pushes them forward while also giving them a place of belonging.
As TAYHVN grows, I want the brand to represent performance, discipline, resilience, self-improvement, and belonging. Whether someone finds their haven through bodybuilding, strength training, running, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, or simply becoming a healthier version of themselves, TAYHVN is designed to represent that journey.
Ultimately, I want people to see TAYHVN and understand the message behind it: Find your haven. Build yourself there.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success, to me, is becoming better than I was yesterday while building something that has a positive impact beyond myself. It means setting ambitious goals, having the discipline to pursue them consistently, and continuing to grow through both accomplishments and setbacks.
I don’t define success solely by money, recognition, or status. Those can be measures of progress, but true success is having the freedom to pursue what I’m passionate about, creating opportunities for myself and others, and building something meaningful that lasts.
With TAYHVN, success would mean creating a brand that people genuinely identify with—one that motivates them to find their own haven through fitness, discipline, and self-improvement. If what I build can inspire someone else to become stronger, more confident, or more disciplined, I consider that success.
