Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Galdi.
Hi Elizabeth, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I graduated with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2012 from the University of Southern California and moved to Chicago where I worked for a number of large physical therapy companies. In 2016, I joined a smaller family-owned company and worked under my mentor, being trained extensively in manual therapy, pelvic floor therapy, and dry needling. The company was sold to a larger corporation and I was quickly promoted to Clinic Manager and then Regional Manager. While I enjoyed my job in operations, I missed the one-on-one time I used to spend with my clients. On top of that, I was ready to move away from Chicago. I have been vacationing in and visiting Miami for over ten years, and it was an easy decision to make it my new home. I thought this was a great opportunity as well for a fresh start with physical therapy, so I started Full Sail Physical Therapy with a focus on one-on-one elite personalized PT.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a rollercoaster ride since deciding to pursue my Doctorate in Physical Therapy. PT school was very tough, and then moving to a new city (Chicago) and working in very busy outpatient PT clinics were huge challenges. I had a few very good mentors along the way supporting and encouraging me to find my own path and follow my interests. I really enjoyed my last job as a leader, manager, and mentor, however, I missed working with patients and clients the way I wanted to. Despite the challenges, I am extremely grateful for the experiences and am excited to start fresh with my own practice in Miami.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Full Sail Physical Therapy is elite PT that comes to you. I know that a lot of people want personalized and individualized treatment that they aren’t getting at most physical therapy clinics across the country. I bring my unique skillset of manual therapy, sports medicine, Dry Needling, posture/ergonomics and pelvic floor therapy experience into the comfort and privacy of my clients’ homes or gyms. I also offer “second/third opinion” services for physicians and clients alike when they aren’t getting desired results with their current treatment plans. A lot of my clients in the past have tried me as a last resort after having had multiple failed surgeries, physical therapy and other treatments without success, and have been extremely happy with the results. Everyone has a dentist, primary care physician, veterinarian, etc, but not everyone has a Physical Therapist. I would love to change that and be a consistent resource and provider for my clients.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The Physical Therapy industry has already seen massive changes over the last 5-10 years and I expect that that will continue. Due to the changes in health care and insurance reimbursement, small, family-owned practices are being quickly purchased by larger investment company-owned entities. I expect that a lot more experienced physical therapists like myself will continue to branch away from larger companies and open their own businesses, especially cash-based ones.
