Hidden Gems: Meet Djenane Valbrun of Trading Financial Freedom

Today we’d like to introduce you to Djenane Valbrun.

Hi Djenane, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My relationship with money began early in life. Raised by a single mother who was exceptional at managing her finances, I learned firsthand that financial success isn’t defined by how much you earn, but by how wisely you manage what you have. Understanding early on that money was necessary to create opportunity, I began working at just 13 years old by selling snacks at school essentially running my own mobile convenience stand. Whatever money I earned, I either saved or reinvested back into my small business. By the grace of God, I developed financial discipline at a young age, and I can honestly say that my last real financial struggle was during those early years.

My mother often reminded me, “It’s not how much money you have, it’s what you do with the money you have that matters.” That lesson stayed with me and inspired me to educate myself on reducing debt, increasing income, using credit responsibly, and investing with intention. As a result of applying those principles early, I was able to purchase my first home in 2017.

I have always been fascinated by numbers and their limitless potential. As that curiosity grew into a passion, I realized numbers could be more than theory they could be transformative. In February 2018, I began my journey into stock trading. Through years of discipline, late nights, and early mornings, I developed the skills and mindset necessary to master the art of trading.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Finance in 2024 and am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Finance, which I will complete in May 2026. Alongside my academic journey, I have built a community of day traders where I provide education and support through mentorship, courses, and speaking engagements, all focused on helping individuals understand the markets and develop disciplined trading habits.

While I enjoy trading and the analytical challenge it brings, my greatest fulfillment comes from helping others. Through Trading Financial Freedom, I serve families, homeowners, and business owners by providing the education, tools, and confidence they need to make informed financial decisions. To me, true success is measured not only by personal achievement, but by the impact I have in helping others move closer to financial freedom.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to financial freedom is never easy, but it is always worth the effort. Early on, I created a financial plan designed to support my future and open the door to new opportunities. As a young entrepreneur eager to succeed, I explored multiple paths, investing both time and money into various ventures. While not all of them were successful, I never allowed setbacks to deter me from pursuing my goals.

About three months after purchasing my first home, a pipe burst on the second floor, causing extensive water damage that spread throughout the first floor. In that moment, I felt defeated. A repair of that magnitude was not in my budget, and I found myself questioning my decision: Why did I buy this house? Was it worth it? How am I going to fix this? However, I couldn’t afford to dwell on doubt. Instead, I shifted my focus to creating a solution one that would protect my investment and move me forward.

Looking back now, I can confidently say that purchasing that home was one of the best investments I have ever made. Along my entrepreneurial journey, there were moments when I lost sight of my objectives, doubted myself, and even lost relationships with friends and family. Still, the resilience, knowledge, and confidence I gained through those experiences have been invaluable and far outweigh any losses along the way.

My interest in trading began at a time when I didn’t know a single person actively trading in the stock market. I had no direct mentors, limited resources, and very little guidance but I knew this was something I wanted and needed to pursue. As a young Haitian girl who migrated to the United States at eight years old, the idea of stepping into the U.S. stock market felt ambitious, yet deeply personal. Eager to learn and determined to succeed despite limited direction, I invested countless hours studying, practicing, and refining my skills. That commitment to education and discipline ultimately led me to master the craft and become a profitable day trader.

Today, my work is rooted in more than financial success it is about representation, access, and breaking barriers. As a Haitian woman in finance and trading, I understand firsthand how intimidating these spaces can feel when you don’t see people who look like you or share your story. My journey is proof that financial markets are not reserved for a select few, but are accessible to anyone willing to commit to education, discipline, and perseverance. Through my work and through Trading Financial Freedom, I strive to create pathways where none existed before empowering individuals and families to build confidence, reclaim control of their finances, and realize that financial freedom is not a distant dream, but an achievable reality.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a financial educator, day trader, and the founder of Trading Financial Freedom, a community built around education, discipline, and long-term empowerment. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, earned in 2024, and I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Finance, which I will complete in May 2026. My academic background, combined with real-world market experience, allows me to bridge the gap between financial theory and practical application.
I specialize in stock market education, day trading strategy, and risk management, but my work extends beyond trading. Through personal and business consulting, I provide budgeting assistance, financial planning support, and money management guidance. I often work with individuals and entrepreneurs who are earning income but struggle with managing it effectively. My focus is on helping people build structure, accountability, and sustainable financial habits not just making money, but learning how to keep it, grow it, and use it intentionally.

I am known for making complex financial concepts accessible and actionable. Through mentorship, courses, live market education, speaking engagements, and one-on-one consulting, I meet people where they are and guide them step by step. I emphasize education over speculation and strategy over shortcuts, empowering individuals to make informed decisions with confidence.

What I am most proud of is the community I’ve built and the real-life impact it has had on families, homeowners, and business owners. Seeing people move from confusion and fear to clarity and confidence whether that means improving their budgeting, strengthening their credit, purchasing a home, or developing disciplined trading habits is deeply rewarding.

What sets me apart is my comprehensive approach. I combine formal financial education with lived experience, transparency, and purpose. I don’t promise quick wins or overnight success. Instead, I focus on sustainable systems, mindset, and long-term financial health, while creating a space where representation matters and people feel supported. My goal is not only to teach people how to trade, but to help them develop a healthier relationship with money and a clear, realistic path toward financial freedom.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck has never really been a word I’ve relied on. I was raised in a family where faith, not chance, was the foundation. My grandmother, who gave birth to twelve children in Haiti, had very little by way of formal education or financial resources. She earned what she could as a rice seller, often with little to no steady income. Yet through every season, she relied on the one thing that never wavered her trust in God.

She used to tell us, “I don’t have money, cars, or houses to leave you, but I give you God.” That belief shaped how I view life and business. I don’t attribute my progress to luck, good or bad, but to preparation, perseverance, and faith. God has been the foundation of every step I’ve taken from the risks I’ve taken to the resilience I’ve built when things didn’t go as planned.

In business and in life, there have been challenges, setbacks, and moments of uncertainty, but I’ve learned to see those not as misfortune, but as redirection and growth. My success has come from showing up consistently, doing the work, and trusting that when I move with discipline and purpose, God will order my steps. For me, faith has replaced the idea of luck it has been the constant source of strength, clarity, and direction behind everything I’ve built.
