Today we’d like to introduce you to Diyanis Portuondo.
Diyanis, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Bare Beauty Glow Bar came about when I finally decided to take a leap of faith. Throughout my high school years, I fell in love with the beauty and makeup artistry. Almost every morning I woke up extra early just to put on a winged liner and some mascara. Makeup set the tone for my day and just managed to put me in the best mood.
After graduating high school in 2016, my goal was to jump right into beauty school to pursue my passion for makeup. Unfortunately, it felt like the doors weren’t opening for me the way I hoped. My family was concerned and expressed that they felt the beauty industry could not provide an established career for my future.
That being said, I began to pursue a teaching career. Teaching children always had a special place in my heart, and it seemed like this was the path of least resistance. In 2020, COVID-19 hit while I was working as a Clerical Assistant in an elementary school. With schools closed until further notice, I had to resign and find a job elsewhere. Only three months into this new job I found myself completely miserable.
I questioned myself every day, wondering what I needed to do to find my true happiness. It took a few weeks for me to realize it, but the time was finally right for me to go to beauty school to pursue my passion for makeup artistry. I turned in my resignation letter and did just that.
Although I was there because of my love for makeup, little did I know I would fall in love with Skincare as well. There was no better feeling than seeing how happy people were as I helped them learn to treat and love their skin. A fire built within me, and I jumped right into opening my own company, Bare Beauty Glow Bar in May of 2021.
Thanks to my family and friends, I’ve been able to continue growing my knowledge of beauty and improving my craft every day.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Since opening Bare Beauty Glow Bar, I’ve found that owning a business comes with much more responsibility than the work I do in the treatment room.
Taking it one day at a time, I’m finally finding my rhythm with not only being the Esthetician but also handling the finances, sales, marketing, planning, and much more.
I feel so much gratitude that even on my hardest days, I still feel truly happy for this opportunity.
We’ve been impressed with Bare Beauty Glow Bar, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Bare Beauty is an Aesthetic Spa. Our goal is to help our clients reach their healthiest skin yet. We truly believe it’s important to love your skin every step of the way.
Bare Beauty offers a variety of goal-driven facial services for all skin types. We see many clients target to skin concerns like acne, hyperpigmentation, aging, environmental damage, and more. Our most popular services are HydroFacials, Chemical Peels, and Dermaplaning to name a few.
We want people to remember that you will never regret taking care of your skin. After all, not only is it our largest organ but it is the only one we have.
Any big plans?
Bare Beauty has flourished beautifully, and I could not be more grateful.
Our plans for the future consist of expanding into a centrally located area within Miami to be able to provide our amazing services to even more beautiful people. With that being said, I am very particular with the quality of my work, and being able to provide the best experience possible to each client is of utmost importance.
While expanding is certainly a goal, I plan to do so in a timely manner to ensure a smooth and successful transition.
