Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryce Garrett.
Hi Bryce, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up, I always had a calling on my life to lead whether it was physically or spiritually. I grew up in a Christian household where both my parents were pastors. The pressure of being a PK for me and my 4 sisters was always at its all-time high. I was also a child of an ex-professional basketball player. Athletics ran my family literally. From dancing to playing basketball no matter what it was I was into it if it had something to do with being active. I began to Fall in love with basketball at the age 0f 11 and really took it to the next level.
I made the second team all Public in 9th grade and every year after that 1st team. I averaged 22 pts a game as a senior. I led Eastern PA, in scoring and finished high school as a d1 commit with over 1,000 pts. As life began to get good it took a turn for the worst. My soon to be coach at Delaware State was fired, and I lost all of my offers because I committed. I ended up going to a school by the name of Keystone College in Scranton PA, but things just didn’t go as planned. As a sophomore, I had to deal with my parents going through a Divorce which took over finances and later had me drop out of college. I was devastated.
I felt like I lost the only thing that was saving me, which was my family and my love for collegiate sports. I went through rough patches where I was just trying to find out who I was without it. Despite the hardship I worked out no matter what and truly leaned on my faith which was instilled in me. My drive for fitness became stronger. I later got my certification as a personal trainer and that’s when my true calling and passion embraced me. I led the first community weight loss challenge for Saudia Schuler, who is a true community activist. Then, later got an opportunity to help open, manage, and administrate a gym by the name of 365 Fitness Boxing Loft. Started my Athletic wear brand called Body willpower. I was seen on Fox 29 News, and later CW Philly as a guest trainer on a fitness series by the name of YardOut by Ron Rasul.
Sponsored by Pure Fuel, an organic energy drink. I was Featured as a premiere trainer at the Philadelphia Art museums biggest event by record named TakeOver. I had a bonding scene on a reality TV show called Behind the Brand, which featured my dance fitness class. I speak at high schools and women empowerment events. God blessed me to be seen in such a light where people could be encouraged & uplifted by my passion. My prayer was to always make sure people see the god in me in everything I do. I admire and I understand why my parents instilled in me faith and substance because it brought me this far. God’s plan is always the best plan despite what it looks like.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Having to drop out of school was hard because it wasn’t by choice. My relationship with my father became a struggle and later led me wayward I was living from couch to couch at my friends. I didn’t have work experience because of my career as an athlete, so working was out the question.
It was very hard to adjust to regular life. Once I landed my first real job as a personal trainer running the gym I stated previously. I was misused for my passion for fitness & sold a lot of dreams that didn’t come to pass. I poured so much into the business that leaving it was hard because it was something I helped birth. But little did I know it was holding me back when I left opportunities began to pour into my life.
We’ve been impressed with Brizzle’s Work-Out Plan, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Brizzle’s work-out plan mission is mind over matter. spreading mental awareness on the physical aspect of succeeding in life through fitness. My goal is to help the non-fitness goer to the most elite professional athlete. The Programs I offer to achieve these goals are 1-1 PT, virtual classes, dance fitness & athletic training.
What sets me apart is me being experienced on both ends of fitness as an athlete & trainer. Also, me being firm on my faith I actually care about the wellbeing of my being spiritually I can pick up when things are going well are bad and that’s a true gift. My program helps you mentally and physically.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Putting God first and for most & the qualities of being driven and consistent are what helped my success.
I stick to everything I put my mind to. Also always open to learning no matter how much I achieve I’m always a student to what I don’t know.
