Today we’d like to introduce you to Bia Yuri.
Hi Bia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born and raised in Brazil. I lived there until I was 24 years old. I graduated Business Administration and had a great career, but working on big corporations was not fulfilling for me. After a trip to Hawaii USA, I met my first husband and moved to US. At first, I was working at any side jobs I could find, from babysitting to cleaning houses and selling goods on the swap meet. My English wasn’t that good and I was a little bit lost on how to start my career in a totally different country, with different cultures, languages, etc.
I finally find a job with similar duties as my job in Brazil, but Because of the high cost of living in Hawaii, I had to find something that gave me a better pay. And that is when out of the blue, I decided to try something totally new: the beauty industry. Being honest, I was never that passionate about beauty, but I went in for the money. I personally don’t recommend people to follow something just for the money because I don’t believe you can’t be truly successful without passion for what you do.
But nowadays I can say that it was the best decision I could have ever made! All the sudden, I was in love with the beauty industry. For the first time, I felt happy about going to work. I felt empowered by boosting other women’s confidence. I was beyond happy to be able to make my own schedule and to make as much money as I wanted to as long I was willing to put in the work.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, and I don’t think there is ever going to be a smooth road to anyone. Struggles are part of life. The obstacles are only there to filter who is really pushing through and is committed to their goals. After I decided to learn permanent makeup and eyelash extensions, my husband at the time told me to quit my office job and focus on my new career. He believed in myself more than I did. I quit my job and I was ready to start building my clientele. But then the unexpected happened. One month later, at the age of 26, my husband passed away. My world collapsed. I hit the rock bottom and felt that there was no more meaning to life. How can you go to sleep and wake up and accept that you will never see, hear, touch that person in this lifetime?
With his death also came secondary losses… You probably heard of greediness when people passes away. And yes, it happened to me. A few months after his death, I had to move out of our own house. It was really hard to believe everything that was going on. And the only person in this foreign country that always had my back wasn’t here anymore.
How could I move on with my life? Working didn’t make sense anymore. Make money, achieve goals, empower others, to come home to an empty house. It was a void that I can’t describe. At first, I got mad at God, but then I realized that my faith was the only thing that could rescue me and help me heal. I prayed day and night.
And little by little, I got rescued. Even though I felt lifeless, I knew I had to make my business bloom in a short amount of time because I had just quit my job, I barely had clientele, and I had to be able to afford a new home for me and my three dogs.
That is why I use my story to inspire others. While my husband was alive, I knew I was going to make my business happen, but I also knew I had time. I knew I had him backing me up. My ” WHY” wasn’t that strong.
After he passed, I had no option but to make it happen.
Before, I would be lead by my excuses and limiting beliefs ” I don’t have enough clients BECAUSE I am just a beginner”. Anything that comes after the word “BECAUSE” is your excuses.
After his death, I was lead by my “WHYs”. Either I was going to make it happen or I wouldn’t be able to afford a new home that would allow me to keep my three dogs. I had no choice. And because I had no choice, I made it happen.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Bia Yuri Academy was founded after that bumpy road. The right doors started opening for me, and after a lot of specialization, I decided to teach others how to do Permanent Makeup (Powder Ombre Brows, Lip Blush), eyelash extension services and become their own boss making a six figure salary.
I am known for in depth Permanent Makeup trainings. Lip Blushing is my favorite technique, and my main goal is to make it more popular in US just like Brows are.
Lip Blushing is a trending service and we are able to enhance client’s lip colors, define more the shape, neutralize darker colors and much more.
After what I went through, I look back and realize that no matter how bad life may seem, you can always turn around and make progress. My biggest motivation is to help other to unstuck themselves and live in a life of abundance and prosperity. And this is what sets me apart from the other PMU academies. I truly care about the success of my students and guide them throughout their journey. Their success is my success. And success starts in the mind first. If your mindset is nor sharp, you won’t succeed in anything you do.
Sometimes people are afraid of taking the next step and trying something new. But by fearing failure, they are automatically failing. I lost count of how many students were indecisive if they should learn permanent makeup or not, but once they decided to go for it, they were in awe with the exponential career growth they could have. The main thing I tell to all my students is: the competition does matter. Everything that you are going to do in life you will have “competition”. Even if you are a doctor or a lawyer! You don’t just walk out of school with your clinic full of clients. It takes commitment and passion to make it happen.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was a very caring child. I am always friends with everyone no matter their color, race or sex. Entrepreneur was always in me. I would always create crafts like jewelry at very young age and sell it to my friends and family.
