Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Williams
Ashley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Looking back as to how I got to where I am today was honestly a coincidence. I personally am not a fan of cake but I have been obsessed with cheesecakes since my younger years. I remember starting my business back in February 2016. There were not many local bakers that were into baking cheesecakes at the time. I thought to myself what a unique yet decadent type of dessert. I wanted my business to describe me which is how I came up with the name “Ashley’s Cheesecakes”. Every little detail about my business had to literally describe me. If you have ever payed attention to my logo, the cartoon character is literally me. When customers would receive their orders, I wanted them to feel that there was a lot of thought and love put into their order. While currently working a full-time career and running my business it most certainly has had its pros and cons.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not! I always say if entrepreneurship was easy, everyone would become one. There have been many challenges which I like to call areas of opportunity that I have had to face while continuously building upon my brand. Balancing your businesses and all the additional hats you wear is not an easy task. I’ve had moments to where I just wanted to give up due to my frustrations and throwing in the towel. I always keep in mind why I started this. I think about my loyal and future customers which keeps me motivated. I think about my legacy that I will leave for my children. Running a business throughout the pandemic has been an additional challenge. Supplies have ran low and at times can be stressful. I’ve learned that preparing in advance is key for orders to be fulfilled especially during the times that we are facing. You also have to demand the respect as a baker. How you operate your business is your prerogative. Don’t allow anyone to dictate how you do you.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Networking and finding a mentor I believe helps in so many ways. I think this is what has made my business so unique. What has worked well for me is that I am one that uses every opportunity to network. It can be a birthday party I’m attending or just a social gathering. I will always use that opportunity to network. Somethings have been a success and others have not been as successful. However, you will never recognize your true potential until you actually give it a try.
