Hidden Gems: Meet Aroon Duncanson of Plastics Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aroon Duncanson

Hi Aroon, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey began in 2015 when I launched an online fashion blog and began modeling, sparking my initial interest in social media and online marketing. This passion led me to pursue a bachelor’s degree in PR and advertising, where I deepened my understanding of digital strategies.

After college, I took a leap and relocated to Miami to pursue modeling full-time. As I established myself, I started working with small business clients as a freelancer, managing their social media and offering PR services. By fate I ended up working at a full-time position managing a plastic surgery practice in Miami. During my tenure, I not only oversaw daily operations but also implemented a marketing strategy that generated over $600k in revenue within a year.

This experience solidified my passion for social media marketing, particularly within the aesthetics industry. In 2019, I founded Plastics Media, embarking on a challenging yet rewarding journey. Despite the setbacks brought by the 2020 pandemic, I persevered, taking on a full-time marketing manager role while simultaneously growing Plastics Media on the side.

Fast forward to today, after five years filled with both triumphs and challenges, I am incredibly grateful for the journey. I’ve established a strong reputation in the aesthetics industry and built a dedicated team of talented women. The road has been long, marked by moments of joy and stress, but the rewards have made it all worthwhile. I’m excited for the future and eager to see where this journey takes us next.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As any business owner can attest, owning a business and managing multiple employees is never easy. It has certainly had its fair share of challenges. Honestly, every week presents new hurdles to overcome, but that’s part of the journey of building your business, and I embrace these challenges wholeheartedly.

We’ve been impressed with Plastics Media, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Plastics Media is a social media agency based in Miami, Florida, specializing in catering to the unique needs of clients in the beauty and aesthetics industry. Founded in 2019 by Aroon Duncanson, Plastics Media has quickly established itself as a leader in digital marketing strategies tailored specifically for skincare, cosmetic dermatology, and plastic surgery practices.

At Plastics Media, we harness over a decade of expertise in social media marketing to craft innovative campaigns that resonate with our clients’ target audiences. Our primary focus is on platforms like Instagram and TikTok, where we have collectively achieved over 100 million views for our clients. We are dedicated to staying at the forefront of industry trends, ensuring that our strategies are not only effective but also aligned with the latest developments in digital marketing.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
From my experience, social media can sometimes paint a glamorous and effortless picture of owning a business. It showcases the highlight reel—success stories, achievements, and milestones—but behind the scenes, it’s a different story altogether.

Building and growing a business takes an immense amount of faith, hard work, and dedication. It’s about navigating through uncertainties, overcoming challenges, and making tough decisions on a daily basis. Social media might show the celebrations, but it often doesn’t reveal the late nights, the setbacks, or the moments of doubt.

For me, every success at Plastics Media has been hard-earned. From the early days of freelancing, to struggling to pay my rent and then eventually founding my own agency, there were countless hurdles to overcome. The journey has been filled with sacrifices, learning curves, and moments where persistence was my greatest ally.

It’s important to remember that success isn’t instant, and it certainly isn’t without its struggles. Behind every social media post showcasing achievement, there’s a story of perseverance and resilience. It’s this dedication and unwavering commitment that truly define the path to building a successful business.
