Hidden Gems: Meet Andrew Guro of Soothe Psychiatry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Guro.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My path into the field of mental health really began when I was working as a registered nurse. In those early years, I had the opportunity to care for patients in inpatient and residential settings, many of whom were struggling with both addiction and complex mental health challenges. These experiences were eye-opening and deeply meaningful. They showed me not only the depth of the struggles people face but also the incredible resilience they can draw upon when given the right support. It was during this time that I realized I wanted to deepen my role in mental health and pursue advanced training to have a greater impact.

I went on to earn my graduate degree at Vanderbilt University, where I built a strong foundation in evidence-based psychiatric care. Since then, I’ve carried forward that blend of clinical rigor and compassion into my work as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and small business owner.

In my practice, I strive to create a safe, welcoming space where patients feel truly heard and supported. I specialize in treating a broad spectrum of conditions including mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, and PTSD, and many more with an emphasis on holistic, patient-centered care.

At the heart of my work is a simple goal: to walk alongside people through their challenges, empower them with knowledge and tools, and support them in achieving balance, resilience, and well-being. That sense of partnership is what has carried me from my early days as an RN to where I am today, and it continues to inspire me every day.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It certainly hasn’t always been a smooth road and I’ve hit many speed bumps along the way. Working in mental health means you’re often face-to-face with people at some of the most difficult points in their lives, which can be both emotionally challenging and humbling. Early in my career as a nurse, I had to learn how to balance being present and compassionate with maintaining healthy boundaries so that I could continue to show up fully for my patients without burning out.

The transition from my role as an RN to advanced practice also brought its own challenges including navigating the steep learning curve of graduate school, adjusting to the responsibility of prescribing, and finding my own voice and style as a provider. There were many moments of self-doubt, as there are for many in this field, but those challenges ultimately pushed me to grow both personally and professionally.

Building my own practice has also come with the usual hurdles of entrepreneurship such as learning the business side of healthcare, managing systems, and wearing many hats beyond just being a clinician. But each challenge has reinforced my commitment to why I started this work in the first place: to create a safe, supportive space where patients feel heard, understood, and empowered in their healing.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My practice, Soothe Psychiatry, was built around one central mission: to provide compassionate, evidence-based mental healthcare in a way that feels approachable, collaborative, and tailored to each individual. I’ve worked hard to create a space that feels safe, nonjudgmental, and patient-centered. My goal is always to make people feel understood and respected, while also empowering them with clear information about their treatment options so we can make decisions together.

I am particularly proud of the trust that patients place in me and the collaborative relationships we build. Mental health care is not one-size-fits-all, and I want people to know that Soothe Psychiatry is a place where their unique story and goals matter and where they can expect high-quality, evidence-based care delivered in a way that is warm, supportive, and centered on them as a whole person, not just their symptoms.
