Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexia Pilleris.
Hi Alexia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began my journey as a therapist essentially way back when I was a child; I knew it was my calling. I always wanted the people around me to be happy and it was my mission to make others smile. I remember receiving the counseling award in High School. Being an inquisitive thinker and writer, I would keep journals of my thoughts on paper. I was fascinated by diverse people, different cultures and languages so I decided to go to Italy and do my Bachelor’s degree in Communications. After my adventurous life in Italy, I left to go to Miami and pursue a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. I knew there was more to explore and the desire to continue exploring is what has kept me passionate on this journey; my journey of self-exploration in addition to my career as a mental health professional.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not all roads are smooth. Some are short and some are long. I definitely took the long road the one that had a lot of interesting things along the way to explore. Being on this road, I must say that every step along the way has helped me better understand where and why I am here today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a licensed mental health counselor, a freelance writer, an abstract thinker, an international diverse human being. I’m simply a person that is on a path living a mindful life. I specialize in mental health and addiction and have been in the field for seven years.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson that I have learned along my journey is that when you put the puzzle pieces of your life together everything will make sense. The reason I say that is because the best investment is self-investment and when a person becomes aware of themselves; their conscious and unconscious behaviors, they can make big improvements in their interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships.
