Hidden Gems: Meet Alejandra Diaz of Legal Collective

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandra Diaz.

Alejandra Diaz

Hi Alejandra, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born in Cuba and spent the first five years of my life in a country marked by scarcity, uncertainty, and very limited opportunity. Those early years shaped my work ethic and my determination. When my family immigrated to the United States, we started again with nothing, but we started in Florida, a place that gave me every opportunity to grow, learn, and succeed. Florida is not just where I was raised; it’s the home that shaped my identity, my values, and my career. I love this state deeply, and it continues to be the center of my personal and professional life. I graduated with honors from Florida International University with a degree in International Relations, a minor in Political Science, and a certificate in Latin America and Caribbean Studies. I then attended Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad College of Law, where I served as President of both the International Law Club and the Torts Club, and was an active member of the Moot Court Society. I graduated with Honors, received Pro Bono Honors, and passed the Florida Bar on my first attempt in 2021.
I am currently licensed to practice in Federal Court, the State of Florida, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the U.S. District Court, and the Southern District of Florida. I will also be licensed in Washington, D.C. shortly.
My legal career began early, while still in college, I worked for political offices and law firms, including clerking for Governor Rick Scott during his re-election campaign, where I was invited to join the Republican Conference at the Biltmore in Coral Gables. During this time, I gained experience in Property Law, Intellectual Property, Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice, and Business Law. By the time I was eligible to clerk in law school, I joined the largest insurance defense firm in Florida, where I drafted complex appellate petitions, worked with administrative boards, and was asked to participate in firm-wide initiatives and committees.
These collective experiences revealed a recurring issue: many businesses are unaware of the true risks and costs of litigation, risks that can often be reduced or eliminated early with the right legal strategy. That realization led me to establish LEGAL COLLECTIVE.
As Founder and Lead Attorney at LEGAL COLLECTIVE, I work tirelessly to protect my clients and their companies. My mission is to offer proactive, personalized legal guidance that minimizes risk before it materializes. My service is direct, exclusive, and rooted in a deep understanding of both the legal landscape and the realities businesses face. My clients sleep better at night knowing they have LEGAL COLLECTIVE on their side.
Today, I live in South Miami with my husband, and we are excitedly preparing to welcome our first child in May 2026. From my humble beginnings in Cuba to building a life and career in Florida, my story is a testament to resilience, opportunity, and the power of hard work—and I bring that same passion and dedication to every client I represent.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has not been smooth, but every challenge has shaped the attorney and woman I am today. I was born in Cuba and spent my earliest years in a country where opportunity was scarce and basic necessities were uncertain. Coming to the United States at five years old meant starting over with nothing, a new language, new culture, and new expectations. My family worked tirelessly to build a life here, working several jobs, and witnessing their sacrifice instilled in me a relentless drive to succeed. Growing up, I learned early that nothing would be handed to me. I worked through school, supported my family when needed, and pushed myself academically even when resources were limited. Law school brought its own set of challenges: balancing full course loads, leadership roles, work responsibilities, and financial pressures. There were moments of exhaustion, self-doubt, and feeling like I constantly had to “prove” myself as a young immigrant woman in spaces where I didn’t always see people who looked like me.
Breaking into the legal world wasn’t easy either. I was often the youngest in the room, the only woman, or the only Latina, and sometimes all three. I had to work twice as hard to be taken seriously and to earn the respect that others seemed to receive automatically. Those experiences strengthened my resilience and sharpened my understanding of how important representation truly is.
Even after becoming an attorney, building my own firm was another challenge, learning the business side, establishing trust with clients, and stepping into a leadership role that required complete confidence in my vision. But each obstacle also came with growth: every difficult moment reaffirmed my purpose and the impact I want to make.
Today, I stand on a foundation built from every struggle, early poverty, immigration, long nights of studying, being overlooked or underestimated, and the courage to build something of my own. Those experiences allow me to serve my clients with empathy, tenacity, and a deep appreciation for what it means to overcome adversity.
